We stayed here from 17th June 2017 to 24th June 2017. The cottage had everything to make our stay very comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped with plenty of utensils and crocs. Very quiet in the countryside but close enough to get to Hailsham with shops, supermarkets etc. Location was ideal, close to the seaside towns and plenty of National Trust properties to view. 5*
The stay at Oat Cottage was a highlight of our holiday. It is beautifully laid out, spotlessly clean, has everything you could need and is in a lovely spot - you wake to the sound of birds but are only a few minutes from services and lots of interesting places to visit (if you're interested in history don't miss Michelham Priory). It is down a quiet but fairly narrow lane, although there is almost no traffic, so even drivers like us (Australians used to wide open roads!) should have no issues. There is a nice walk across the fields to Chiddingly (well marked right of way). Katie and Michael were friendly and helpful, and their home is just in front of the three cottages, so were available when we had a question. Everything worked well - notable was the very good wifi and TV picture. The hot water is amazingly strong and hot, making showering a pleasure! We were sorry we only had a week at Oat Cottage and would have loved to have stayed longer.
Oat Cottage is a great property in a very quiet and tranquil location. It's also an ideal base for exploring the surrounding area with Lewes, Eastbourne and Brighton all a short drive away. The property itself was beautifully clean, tidy and well-equipped. Definitely recommended for a short break in the countryside!
