The hotel is reasonably modern. Front desk personnel are efficient and pleasant and check-in is quick. Elevator access is with room key but it often doesn't work, forcing you to wait for someone to come down (or get a new room key card).

Rooms are clean but basic. For US travelers, equivalent to a Comfort Inn. The room is decent sized. Bed is reasonably comfortable but pillows are flat. There is a large, flat screen TV with mostly Mexican channels (of course) but some offerings for US travelers. Water pressure in shower was a bit low but the water was hot and the bathroom has been modernized with marble. A small bottle of water is provided free of charge.

Breakfast was included in the price. Our group found it quite good -- orange juice is fresh squeezed and eggs are cooked to order. There are many other options at the buffet, both Mexican specialties and items more common to US travelers. Service was prompt. For dinner, you need to eat at the hotel or drive -- nothing within walking distance.

Downsides included being next to a railroad and a train that awakens you between 4 and 5 am with its loud whistle. Also, the hallway carpet is frayed and the hallway reeked of smoke. The reason is that half of the floor is smoking and the other half is not but the hallway doesn't know the difference. Also, they turn off the A/C when they clean your room so when you return to the room, it takes a bit for temperature to cool down. Finally, in my room, I had no cell phone access -- had to go to the lobby. This was not an issue for colleagues, so it may depend on where your room is located.

For US travelers, if you need a basic hotel, with English speaking staff who are anxious to please, the Fiesta Inn is more than fine. However, for the rate we paid, this hotel was not comparable to a US hotel at the same price point.

The rate was good, the room was clean and they provided excellent service. I stayed in other decent hotels in Mexicali before but this hotel was very good. When I called room service for an extra towel at 5 am, the maid brought me one in less than 30 seconds! Talk about service... Not even top notch hotels could beat that! I will definitely be staying here again in the future.

I stayed over a weekend. Used a fiesta rewards voucher for the stay that made the weekend an average of 600 pesos a night, regular price at the front desk was around 1900 pesos a night. Stayed at the Fiesta Rewards Platinum floor. The rooms were average, outdated, nothign special. The bathroom was clean. The service was very good and all the staff was friendly. However, I do not think the rooms are worth the full price, have stayed for that price in much nicer rooms.

My wife and I stayed here overnight while attending a family function. The room was nice as well as the bathroom and everything was tidy and clean. The staff was very friendly, including the bellhop, front desk, maintenance, and the maids. The dining room looked really nice, but we had to get back home early so we didn't get chance to try it out.

My wife has family in Mexicali and we would definitely be happy to stay there again. It felt like it was in a good area of town, even a Starbucks and Burger King nearby, as well as a mall, although I'm more inclined to have the local cuisine when I travel abroad.

We paid $89 US for a deluxe room with a king bed and I feel it was well priced. Also, I liked that in order to access the rooms, you had to have a room key to get on the elevator, even for the 1st floor.

All in all, a pleasant stay. We have plans to return to Mexicali for another family function at the end of this month, so I'll update this review with that stay to hopefully confirm the consistency of our experience.

The room would have been a four star if it wasn't for the hair in one of the beds. The breakfast was average. The shower was nice and hot. The carpet was clean. Front desk was helpful. Not the best hotel but it will work for a a quick business trip.
