Yes - we agree with TOG46 review. The charm and character of the old lobby has been replaced with very cold Art Deco Style?? décor. Heard someone describe it as TACKY!! Removing the Gazebo from the front of this hotel is so sad. They should have spent some the 12M on their ageing infrastructure. One day while in the shower we think the Air conditioning pipes burst and water came rushing down thru the light fixtures both in the shower and in front of the sink as well as from the hallway under our door. By the time we got out of the room we had over 2 inches of water covering our whole floor. Needless to say something got wet As we were on the top (6th) floor not a case of some else`s bathroom overflowing. Did hear of other water issues and had our water shut off a few times! Scary to see water pouring out of light fixtures. While pool chairs have been replaced the beach chairs have not and many are in bad shape. Looks like they removed some tress on the beach and now shade is very hard to find. Riu Hotels don`t seem to believe in Palapas as other resorts do. Have now enclosed the food area at the beach restaurant, so that helps with the birds, but the seating area is still a free for all. We see where the Vallarta installed very...More
