Our vacation was nice because the weather was great. The food is decent (not great by any means). The food in the Mexican restaurant is actually terrible. How can Mexicans screw up Mexican food. The rooms are outdated and in need of make overs. The staff overall is very nice. The resort is very clean. I HIGHLY recommend skipping the Marival Gold sales gig. It is high pressure and the sales staff are rude. Talked to others in MG and was told they were given promises at sales time that did not occur and if they had a do-over, they'd never buy in. When you do the math, it is a bad deal. Yearly maintenance costs increase, the all-inclusive costs can increase. There is no price lock as they tell you. It would take forever to even break even. While we were in the sales pitch, we saw a salesperson yell at a guest, looking like he wanted to fight with the guest. The rooms also have "throttles" on the air conditioning and get very hot. Sleeping was tough. I don't see us coming here again as it is just average for the price.

Room Tip: Good luck getting a room where you would like it. There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason to...

Dear guest,
Thank you so much for taking your time to provide us with your feedback! We are always striving to make guests' stays as comfortable as possible so we apologize.
We are sorry we didn´t fulfill your expectations as to our Mexican restaurant’s menu, even though since the menu has changed, our guests’ satisfaction rate has been higher. We would like to share with you that the menu has been designed by our executive chef Abelardo Arrizon who is proudly 100% Mexican born in Puerto Vallarta. The concept of Las Palomas restaurant intends to satisfy national and international tastes with traditional Mexican dishes and gourmet Mexican cuisine, using premium products harvested and/or produced in our state, encouraging the regional economy. The desserts also contain pre-conquest ingredients such as corn, cacao, chocolate, agave liquor, inter alia.
In reference to the room conditions, we are also happy to share that the resort will start a renovation program of all the rooms in the grand section during the next low season.
We are sorry for any inappropriate comment or behavior by the Vacation Club staff as well as their persistence and pressure, your comment has been addressed to the head of area for follow up. We strive to provide the best experience possible and are sorry to hear that you did not have a perfect stay.
As we would love to welcome you back in a near future and have the chance to show you how we care about our repeat guests, please send us an email to gsmanager@marival.com.mx when planning your next visit in order to help you with any request and do our best to make your stay more enjoyable.

The food was good! It is located right on the water, offering the BEST view; however, the rooms are dated rooms - time for renovations (I.e., beds, bathrooms, furniture, and fixtures)! The staff were great though!

This place was very nice, clean the food was okay and service was good.

This place is definately a family place.

The only thing i did not like about this place is that you have to wake up at 6am to book your sunbed either by the pool or by the beach. You also have to book all your a la carte dinners as soon as you arrive otherwise they are fully booked.

over all i would recommend this place it is very good.

Room Tip: We had a room right by the pool on the ground floor which i found really nice

I would recommend the new VIP club area. Great service and great staff. Very friendly and loved the updated menu. Gerardo Avalos was exceptional, he made our visit relaxing and enjoyable. Didn't wait long for anything we ordered.

The resort was full of locals and the one pool was very loud and busy but other then that everything was great. Would recommend the VIP Beach Club to anyone. It was amazing, quiet, great food and drinks, amazing service. Would like to say Fabian did an amazing job and made our stay so much better but everyone else who served us was also great. Beach beds in the VIP area were by far the best part but when you want some sun they have comfy lounge chairs on the beach as well. The restaurants were unbelievable although you have to make reservations the food was amazing and the service always so fast.

We were here with a group of over 30 people for our friends wedding in December of 2012. We did enjoy our stay, but this place really did take a lot of getting used to. Keep in mind we were with a large group of people and all of the rooms were scattered all over the entire resort. At the end of the week we were finally able to find everyones room without getting lost.

The pools were very nice. It was even more nice that they tried to keep the kids on the other side of the resort for those that were looking for a more adult atmosphere. The swim up bars are always loaded with people. With that being said there was always a place to sit and relax either at the bar or close to it. One night we kept the main pool bar open 2 hours past close with our entire group in the pool well after dark. Now that is customer service. They were tipped very well for that night alone.

The rooms were just like most rooms at big resorts. Nothing overly special. A bed, two lamps, table and chairs, balcony and bathroom. The room was cleaned daily and we were able to keep all of our valuables in the safe provided (for a daily fee). We were on the 3rd floor and the stairs were a killer the first few days, but by the end of the trip our legs were pretty tone. Everywhere you go at this resort is far away. From your room to the pool takes 5 minutes or more, then to a restaurant if you can find one, another 5 minutes. Like I said, if you like large resorts with hundreds of people, then this is your place.

We had one bad day where they bussed people in from somewhere. People of all ages. They were able to use the pools, restaurants and beach area. This wouldn't have been an issue other than the fact, it was another couple hundred people on top of the couple hundred people already staying there it was an overload. Screaming kids everywhere and a lot of rude people. Again, I'm not sure what they were all doing there, but it was a cluster to say the least. The only way to get away from them all was to walk down the beach to another place.

We walked toward the pier and found a little massage place to get $25 massages. They usually had a wait of about a half hour, but you could walk up and down the beach while you waited. The pier is a decent walk down from the beach but well worth it. We walked it a few times during our stay. Lots of smaller and larger resorts to see along the beach. There is a turtle hatchery you can tour down next to the massage place and that was very interesting. We were glad to see a place like this attempting to give back and protect the turtles as much as they could. We were able to see the baby turtles there that would hatch and release into the ocean at 6pm a few nights a week. Guided releases help insure the survival of the baby turtles from the local bird population.

The food was pretty good, same as most other large resorts as well. The buffets for breakfast were always good and had lots of options. Some members of our group went out fishing and were able to bring the Mahi Mahi and Jack fish catch back. The resort cooked it up for all of us for free. A wonderful treat. By far one of the best things that happened during our stay. We were able to eat at the snack bar most of the day, they had pizza and a few other options that kept you full and on the sober edge as needed. There were al a carte restaurants that you needed daily reservations at. We ate there 6 out of the 7 nights. The food was decent and cooked to order. I would recommend any of them just so you don't get stuck eating leftover buffet food the entire week.

The wedding was amazing. There were a few minor hiccups, but for the most part nothing that couldn't be fixed in a few moments. Our friends were married on a grassy area between two buildings with a lighted dance floor under our feet near by. We were able to reserve the entire dance club for 4 hours that night being there was another wedding there that day as well. After 9pm we had to share the club with the open public.

The club was GROSS. It smelled of rotten beer and cigarettes. Everything from the floor to the seats to the tables were sticky. We even went as far as to get towels and attempt to wash them ourselves, however the years of decay were not able to be washed away that easy. Had it not been the wedding reception none of us would have been in there. A matter of fact, we weren't in there before or after the wedding.

The reception area was always nice and clean and they got a very nice breeze through there. We spent a few nights playing cards around there in between dinner and night caps. Our favorite area by far was the upper deck outside of the two restaurants. They had a grand piano and this fragile older Mayan woman that would play for hours. She brought tears to my eyes more than once that week. Our friend played piano as well, and the night of the wedding the woman allowed her to play for us too. There is a little bar area up there that always kept us stocked up for the night on cigars and nightcaps. If you have a chance to hang out up there, please do, it may be the best part of the entire resort.

As for the service, it was hit or miss depending on the hour, the heat, what you wanted and where you were. For the most part...just like the rest of Mexico as far as we're concerned. We're used to the "going with the flow" mentality of the country so it didn't bother us in the least, but I know it did bother a few other people. Some in our group and some not.

Like anything in Mexico you have to be able to take everything with a grain of salt and move on. The beach here is nice, the people that walk up and down the beach selling things can get a little annoying, but again nothing new, they're just trying to make a living. The drinks are weak and top shelf is nearly non existent. This resort is geared toward family and they make it cheap enough for just about all types of people to be there, so keep those things in mind. If you are looking for someplace to go to and relax with no one to bother you and little noise, this is not the place for you whatsoever. If you are a middle class family looking for someplace safe and decent to spend your holiday, you'll enjoy your stay here. We wouldn't stay here again, for the price there are nicer more quiet and smaller places in this area of Mexico.

Room Tip: Higher rooms have better views. Beach front were the most quiet and larger. Beach view is always q...

We truly appreciate such a detailed overview of your stay. Feedback certainly helps us to improve our services and facilities. We are all pleased to read that you enjoyed our pools, food, friendly atmosphere and customer service. Our staff strives to ensure that each guests’ stay is the best that it can possibly be. However, we would like to apologize for the inconveniences you may have encountered during your stay such as other guest´s behavior, the quality of drinks and the night club conditions. Even though your visit was a long time ago and our services and facilities have improved a lot since then, like the complete renovation of our night club Cesar last December 2013, we will share your comments with the managers of each area and they will be gladly followed up in order to avoid this from happening again. Although there are other hotels in the area, we believe that you will not find another property that will take care of your needs and have a staff that is 100% committed to exceeding your expectations. We hope you will give us another chance to welcome you back in the future.
