First and last time at this resort. Overpriced for the value. Charged extra for every item other resorts include at no additional charge like the room safe, water bottle THEY put in the room. Bedding had stains, sink had a large crack, bathroom mirror was discolored, floors were dirty and never mopped during our stay. Long walk to everything including pool and beach. Have to take hotel shuttle cars to get around resort to restaurants or to connect to other shuttles. Very time consuming and inconvenient. Desk staff act like they are doing you a favor to wait on you.

The only saving grace of this hotel is their staff, they are excellent.

We have stayed all throughout Mexico and this will be our last ever stay here. I think they bought the 4 diamond award because they didn't earn it.

The rooms, although clean, are paper thin. You can hear everything that goes on in the adjacent rooms, i.e. No sleep or relaxing! We had to move rooms because after repeated calls to the front desk the option was for us to move and even after that it wasn't much better.

Secondly the beach is covered in jellyfish!!! They do not warn you about this, nor do they care, so if you have little ones I suggest you pay careful attention or keep them off of it.

The hotel is far form everywhere so if you don't mind spending an arm and a leg on the mediocre restaurants then this is for you, otherwise brush up on your Spanish and you can take a bus or taxi ride, which costs extra and adds up quickly, to walmart to buy some food, the only problem is there are no microwaves or refrigerators in the room.

Did I mention Timeshare! From the minute you land to everyday before you leave, all they are trying to do is sell you a timeshare. They even called us several times to wake us up and participate in their "1 hour" meeting. After talking to the staff it's more like an 8 hour meeting.

This has been one of the worst vacation experiences I've had. The resort is beautiful, the staff is amazing, and the rest I can't wait to forget about!

Choose somewhere that cares more about you and your stay then trying to sell you something you don't want.

When you arrive at the airport you have to run thru a gauntlet of time share salesmen. Relievesd as you arrive to check in to find that in order to get your braclet which is also your key you have to see a timeshare salesperson! This is outragesous. When going on vacaion your time is most valuable and so is how you spend your dollars. To spend half of your first day at a sales meeting taking up about 7% of your day vacation time is hardly my idea of good use of your time. If you want to be secluded and pay thru the nose for food that is just average then by all means go here. Puerto Vallarta is very nice with lots of activities. However when it comes to where you stay you need a clean room and beautiful beach and pool area. You also would like to be able to see the sites and experience the local area and get some good deals on restaurants. The Grand Myan and all its properties inside this fortress make it very difficult to go out and see anything. You cannot strole down the beach and stop and see anything nothing is anywhere near this place. Oh and watch walking on the beach for dead jellyfish and sea snakes. To say nothing of the water. Foolish me for not seeing the red flags. It is so hard to watch your child scream in agony from a jellyfish sting. I found out they leave the red flags out all the time so you have no idea if the ocean is safe and the guards wont tell you.
So it was pools and no ocean. Almost twenty dollar hamburgs. We had a great time going on the Vallarta Adventures but still a bitter taste in my mouth from being held hostage.
My advise is go some where you have the opportunity to get out and about.

We owned time at the Mayan Palace from a trip to Cancun last year and used it this year in Nuevo Vallarta. They upgraded us to the Grand Mayan as long as we attended a breakfast and "informational meeting". We met with Member Specialist Craig Rock and had a great morning. We really weren't sure going into it what we owned and how Vida worked. Craig did a wonderful job of explaining the whole thing and what the options are. Enjoyed our time with him and he didn't try to sell us anything. Of course, then his superiors stepped in but they accepted when we said no (well, after a couple times but that is OK). The resort was extravagant. The pools, the beach, the restaurants. Everyone was SO NICE and responsive. Only wish it was closer to the downtown ($200/peso taxi). Wonderful vacation.

Room Tip: Don't really get to choose.

The wife & I, my eldest son & his wife & their 2 daughters (1 & 3 y.o.) enjoyed a wonderful 1st week of March at GM. My grand-daughters were captivated by the children's play areas, the edge of the wave pool, & the lazy river. We spent most of our time in these areas, but had many scenic walks around the property & along the beach. A short walk from the main gate is the top-rated restaurant/snack bar, Manao Cebicheria, where we had a delicious dinner. My son & I played tennis 4 days. The courts were good, with high fences, but unfortunately closed at 5:30p. We enjoyed a pleasant & informative update on GM with Craig Rock & Camilla Schwab & they were very understanding of our needs. Everyone had a great time.
