Loved the proximity of the hotel to the pool and beach. When we went next door to the Grand Mayan it was quite a hike to get from one place to the next since it was so big. If one of our family members needed to go to the room it was very quick. We were on the second floor at the end and could watch the rest of the family at the beach.
We had a 1 bedroom suite which had a simple bathroom, kitchen area and king bed. Two teenaged boys had their own beds(couches) in living room
All staff were very helpful from the concierge to the front desk and pool staff. We were given great advice on where to eat like the locals. Good cheap food.

We just returned after spending 4 weeks at the Sea Garden and have nothing but good things to say about it. The food, the cleanliness, the staff - were all wonderful. There are a LOT of restaurants in the area to choose from and we had a great meal almost all the time. We went on the Timeshare presentation and our Member Specialist - Craig R - was great!! Very personable, knowledgeable and if he didn't know, he got the answer for us. Enjoyed our time with him. Definitely plan on returning next year.

Hello - I am a long time Mayan owner and though I have been to most of the properties, love Nuevo the best. We were at the Buenos Aires restaurant right down the street from the Mayan property. I had a choking episode with a piece of meat - so after the Heimlich maneuver, my already thin esophagus, was closed even thinner. I quickly cabbed it back to the Mayan property, they called the doctor, as at the Grand Mayan, they have a doctor's office. It did take him a few minutes to get there, then decided I should be taken via ambulance to the hospital - which is right across the street from where the cruise ships dock. I think the doctor charged around $50 at the hotel and even though I did have insurance, I think the bill with x-rays and exam., was under $300 and they took very good care of me and had a pharmacy right on premises for medications (I think about $40). My husband had an earlier episode on a different trip, where we needed a doctor to come to the room at the Mayan Palace, and I think that was $65 and they added the charge to our room bill.

So possibly the person whose comments I am replying to - maybe when they said 1000 - they meant pesos?

And I believe, while on property, besides some of the pool restrictions to Grand Mayan and/or Bliss, you are entitled to use any of the restaurants on the full property

We recently spent a week here as we have done before and again, very much enjoyed our stay. The property is small and very well maintained. Staff is very friendly.
It's located right on the beach. just south of the Marina. There is only one restaurant but they also have a poolside grill for lunch and snacks. The food is very good.
A big plus is their Laundry room with washers and dryers available for a small charge.
There are a number of great restaurants within a few minutes walk.
We have always enjoyed our stay here .

Room Tip: Would suggest requesting an ocean view room as the sunsets are magnificent. 3rd floor or higher.

I have no idea what Katie D was talking about in her negative comments about the staff. They were excellent ! This hotel is well placed amongst the Mayan hotels because of the restaurants in the immediate area. Yes The Bliss and The Grand Mayan are very beautiful, but they are huge and you are more or less limited to their restaurants which are very expensive. The Sea Garden has its challenges ie: very hard beds, no balconies and no mini fridges in the studio suites but overall, the best option in Nuevo. The food at the hotel's Rumm ba restaurant is very good but a tad expensive. There are several restaurants near by so check them all out. Eddies and Elbarracuda were our favorites. But, with the exception of Elbarracuda, the service at every restaurant was way beyond SLOW! I don't think they have invented a word yet for this type of slow. The people were very nice and most of the food was very good, but it just took a long time for a meal. If you go to Vallarta, you have to go on the Rythims of the Night Tour. You can read all about it on line but we would definitely recommend it. Overall it was a nice vacation but having gone to various places throughout Mexico (8X) the Mayan Riviera is still our favorite.

While staying at the Grand Luxxe, we ventured out one morning to explore what was down the road from our resort. We found the Mayan Sea Garden after ten minutes or so. We decided to check it out since we had never been to this resort before. We were impressed with the colorful lobby with it's waterfall. Soon after we arrived, we ran into the Rumm-Ba snack bar. After reading the menu we went inside to check it out. Once inside we were cheerfully greeted by the restaurant's manager, Mauricio. We informed him that we had already eaten and were just there to see what they had to offer. He informed that they offered a discounted breakfast buffet between the hours of 7AM to 9AM. After we toured the establishment, we assured him that we would be back for breakfast sometime during the week. When we came back later that week, we were greeted by one of the waiters whose name was Socrates. (his parents must have loved the classics). He asked if we would like to be seated inside or outside. Since the weather was beautiful, we chose to have an alfresco breakfast. From the patio we could see the pool and the beach. The Sea Garden is a relatively small resort, so your view from where we were seated was all encompassing. It was beautiful. Socrates was both friendly and efficient. We enjoyed him immensely. Soon after we had been seated, Mauricio came over to welcome us back and was happy that we decided to try out his restaurant. They offered a nice buffet with a variety of Mexican and American dishes. And of course there was juices, really fresh pastries, cereals and a omelet station. When we were ready to leave Mauricio informed us that there was going to be a Fajita Night that Friday and a Pasta Night on Saturday and asked if we would like to attend. We made reservations for the Fajita Night.

When Friday arrived Mauricio greeted us with a cheerful smile and escorted us to our table outside. It was fantastic!! The salad bar was immense with all sorts of vegetable and salads. The fajitas were made to order and your choices were beef, chicken, pork, fish or any combination you desired. You were also given flour tortillas with which to create your fajita. The finishing touch to the meal was an elaborate dessert table laid out with colorful and appetizing items to tempt the palate. What we particularly enjoyed was the fact that the deserts were cut into nearly bite size pieces. This made it possible to sample several items, which wouldn't be as easy otherwise. Throughout the evening Mauricio constantly made the guests feel at home and welcomed.

Since we were in the area for four week we went back for breakfast and also tried their lunch menu. It was at lunch when we met Irene, who we found a charming waitress. Her service rivaled that of our servers when we ate out at home.We were never disappointed with any of the meals or service we received when we visited the Rumm-Ba. I only hope that the administration personnel of the Mayan resorts in Nuevo Vallarta realize the contentious manager they have in Mauricio. We look forward to going back to the Rumm-Ba snack bar the next time we are staying in Nuevo Vallarta.

Room Tip: Not applicable. We stayed at another Mayan Resort..

I have to say that I was a little nervous to go to this hotel because of some of the reviews and lack of information that was available! We own here but have never used this location as having younger children all inclusive options were always easier!
Check in was easy - they do give you a bracelet depending on ownership or guest status. If you do own here and are entitled to a 2 bedroom ensure you get the suite plus the hotel room! When we checked in they did try to give us only the hotel room! Quick trip back to the front desk all was fixed - unsure if it was on purpose or actually a mistake! As stated in other reviews the front desk staff isn't the most helpful, Diego in particular is horrible to deal with but Delibeth is amazing! Everyone else in this hotel though will go above and beyond! Adan (security)and Adan (bell) are both amazing along with Julio (bell) and the entertainment staff Karla, Jose, and Carlos can't even begin to say enough about them! Can't wait to see them again! Most the waiters are great Eric in particular was amazing!
Things are expensive at the hotel ish... Drinks are about $8.40 each but happy hour they are 2 for 1 and they always have a drink of the day that is half price.
We just went to walmart and Mega and ate lunch and breakfast in our room!
They are always cleaning and painting and fixing! Very clean!!
Yolanda and Alfredo at the painting station by the pool are amazing :) spent lots of time (lol and money there)
The only issue we did have is that we needed the hotel doctor one night for my sons ear ache, so I called my insurance and they approved dr to come to our room, great! Well dr called my room and said she needed $1000 US to come see us! Asked if she took credit card and she said no, ok well we would go over to the grand then and see her there so we could use credit card. Her response... I don't take credit card here either?!?! I was pretty baffled... We travel to Mexico yearly and unfortunately have had to use drs more than once and this was the first time ever encountered such a thing?! No credit cards... Now had it been $100 it wouldn't have been such a problem however $1000 US cash and not being able to read the receipt that they give you is a little unsettling. When we went downstairs to ask where the closest private hospital was the bellboys almost couldn't look us in the eye as they couldn't believe that she was asking for such a ridiculous amount! They had even called management to see what was going on - anyhow... Obviously not their fault. I do think that that the hotel should deal with that! Expecting people to pay $1000 US cash to see the hotel dr is a little crazy! Other than that I would totally recommend this hotel! It is definitely not a party place just totally laid back and quite!!! Great place to relax and make memories :) there are tons of restaurants within walking distance, Guidios right across is so yummy!!
We also chartered a boat to go fish with Fernando (ask for him on the beach - for any tours) he is amazing! We caught 2 huge tunas, they took us whale watching and snorkeling, then took us over to mis maloya and they cleaned the fish and cooked it for us, such a great experience! Feel free to ask me any questions and don't hesitate to go here :)
