The baked goods at the Copper Eagle are well worth a stop; in fact you may want to stop two or three times - or get a big take out box - so you can sample everything. While there have a look at the antique advertising signs painted on the outside walls of this and other buildings in the town. We noticed that several of these referenced San Juan Island salmon and strawberries. Curious as to why this would be since we were hundreds of miles and well inland from these American islands we asked a local shopkeeper about them. The signs are apparently part of a Hollywood "makeover" that transformed Greenwood into the setting for the lovely film "Snow Falling on Cedars." The town decided to keep the signs to commemorate Greenwood's moment on the silver screen. While there we also learned that in 2012 Greenwood won first place over more than 120 countries for the best municipal water in the world.
