“The best of our five week trip to Spain!”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

The best of our five week trip to Spain!asa rurales" was just perfect: free internet & wi-fi, fridge and daily free water in each room, good breakfast with fresh fruit and outstanding cafe con leche, nice decor, clothes line, windows that open with screens, a/c, sparkling clean, cordial and helpful wife & husband team, in the peaceful quiet countryside but only about 8 minutes from several cute, fun small beach towns and the natural park. The very best part: a very large terrace with ample seating overlooking a spectacular view all the way to La Costa del Sol! Our late April price for two of us with breakfast was about $72 a day and the weather was perfect!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are on the terrace level. Ours was small, but perfect. I assume they are all just...

Perfect for those seeking tranquility, spectacular nature and lovely and nice hostel. Manuel and his wife run this rural hostel with truly care, they know the area and make you feel at home. Breakfast with bread, tomato, jamón and orange juice freshly squeezed is spectacular.
The living room with terrace is lovely and clean with rural decoration touches. We went in January and all was quiet but with a very warm atmosphere. Located right in the heart of Parque Natural de Cabo de Gata next to La isleta, las Negras and San Jose. 20 minutes from the airport. Strongly recommended

Room Tip: walking routes all around Cabo de Gata

After searching for a while and a very late booking just two days before our trip this summer, what a nice surprise we had when arriving at Los Palmitos! Our room was located in a tranquil area facing the hills, opposite side from a nice terrace where most of the rooms are - it was the perfect size for the two of us and spotless clean. Manuel, the owner, was very helpful and made us feel at home. He gave plenty of tips and recommendations about the villages, beaches and places for us to visit in the natural park. Special mention: the typical Spanish breakfast they serve is delicious! It was figs season and every morning there was a basket full of them on the breakfast table – Manuel collects green and black figs from the trees in his backyard and serves them to his guests. Must do: go to a spot with little or no lights in the evening and take a look up at the sky when in Los Palmitos – the view of the Milk Way will take your breath away!

Delightful place to stay just north of Pozo de los Frailes, with views over the surrounding Cabo de Gata landscape and down towards the sea near San Jose. Most of the rooms/self-catering apartments are off the upper terrace or round the small desert-style garden there, all with their own small seating area in front. Bathrooms are fine and the bedrooms are clean and comfortable, with air con. The only odd thing is that there's emergency lighting in all the rooms which stays on all night when you turn the rest of the lights out - not good if you need pitch dark to sleep.
There's a cool and comfortable dining room downstairs where breakfast is served - a good one, with lots of fresh fruit etc as well as coffee juice and tostadas - and there's also a small pool outside, and an outdoor table tennis table. The owner/manager is really friendly and a mine of information about the best beaches, best restaurants and bars, and parking arrangements.
The Hospederia is good value - we'd be very happy to go back.

This hospederia is located within the beautiful, unspoilt, national park of Cabo de Gata, about 5km from the pleasant little town of San Jose, and offers fine views of the hills and distant sea.
The bedrooms and suites, generally, are situated around a courtyard and terrace, each with its own small sitting area and clothes line. Our room was quite small, but clean and comfortable, but noise travelled easily from adjoining rooms and showers. Dogs are permitted in some rooms or suites.
Breakfast choice was rather limited, but what was offered was quite acceptable, and the coffee superb.
There are some superb beaches in this area, but give San Miguel and surroundings a miss.

My visit to Almería province was necessarily short and intense. Not exactly work, but constantly in movement around the Parque Natural Níjar.Cabo de Gata. Then back to the airport. I am really glad that I chose Los Palmitos from among the many attractively located hotels in the area. My room was comfortable, and had all the amenities I needed. 15 rooms are situated around a terrace with flowers and lovely views. It was so peaceful that I was able to throw open the window and enjoy the gentle night breezes (early June). The Summer was just getting going, but for the hotter days, there is air-conditioning. Manuel, the owner, certainly wasn't an effusive host, but he was willing and helpful when I requested information about the area. No meals are served, apart from a nice Continental breakfast. It seemed a little pricey, but I'm not familiar with the norm for that area.

The place has a very good location, just out of the town and 10 minutes driving to the beaches. Clean and spacious room with very comfortable bed.
Very helpful owner.
Only drawback: the rooms can be noisy.
