Called in after visiting NT property Hinton Ampner next door, greeted by an array of colour so many beautiful baskets of flowers all around the walls of the pub, and even along the fence of the garden, just stunning. We arrived with minutes to spare at 2.30pm at the end of lunch time serving for food, no problem staff very welcoming and obliging, home cooked food delicious. Extensive menu would definitely like to visit again.

We visited on a passing visit and at the time there was a power cut in the local area. The staff went out of their way to ensure that customers were looked after and I cannot faults the girls there for their friendly and helpful attitude. Because of the said power cut the kitchen was out but the chef put together a cracking BBQ and even though we did not want the full option of food and dessert he gave us a very generous burger with steak and potatoes, Sid salad and bread.
Did not get the chance to sample the beer as I was driving but there was a good selection on offer.
I cannot understand why some people feel the need to criticise the decor. This is a traditional English country pub, it is not a wetherspoons or one of your high street trendy bars, it is a part of our cultural heritage which is sadly disappearing. The pub is clean and the display of flowers in the beer garden is fantastic. I cannot comment on the normal menu but for the friendly welcome I will certainly go back.

We happened to call in here too late for lunch after visiting Hinton Ampner House and gardens.
We were seen peering through the windows and, despite being shut, when we asked for just a quick half each, we were invited in, our orders taken and we were made to feel welcome.
We sat in the sun in the gardens outside to drink (loads oof lovely hanging baskets) and enjoyed our halves - especially the Hinton's Own!
Many thanks to the staff for being so obliging!

We stop here quite often as we live in West Sussex but travel over to Winchester a fair bit via the A272. We found this pub a few years back & the food is brilliant. It does normal type pub food (best omelettes ever!) but the thought & effort into accompanying salads etc is excellent. Lovely fresh home cooked food & a very extensive menu from plainer food up to other proper meals. Last time I had the Mushroom Stroganoff which was delicious! If we are passing on a weekend night it's best to ring ahead as the locals know how good it is & it can get booked up. Helpful staff & plenty of dining room. Never found another pub yet where the choice & food is quite so good!! Just wished we lived nearer!

Just took the grandchildren out to lunch. We all had a main meal and dessert, except 7 year old, who had a childs meal. The food was lovely. but I would say that £75 for that lunch was a lot of money. Ok for evening meal, but not lunch.
