A beautiful place to stay. My family and I (and dog!) enjoyed our stay very much.
Lyme Bay Apartment was very clean and spacious.

This is our second stay and certainly won't be our last. Sometimes a website makes places look better than they are, that is definately not the case here. Chesil Beach Lodge lives up to it's great website, everything is spot on. The views are amazing, the rooms are comfortable, clean and well furnished. The breakfast selection is excellent (try the bacon sandwich) and being able to eat it in your room whilst looking out to sea, can it get any better. Well actually yes it did get better as on our last day in the bay in front of the lodge we saw five dolphins, a perfect end to a perfect holiday. Book this place with complete confidence and see for yourself. Love the chocolate shortbread.

Room Tip: Any of them

My partner and I stayed for 2 nights in the Hardy suite over the 1st weekend in July 2011. No trouble finding the Lodge or with the ample parking. Following a warm welcome from Cyril and Linda we were shown to the suite by Cyril where everything in the room was explained, plus the local places to walk and eat etc..

The room is decorated to a very high standard with some lovely touches. I am a bit fussy on cleanliness but could find no fault - all superb. Milk had been left for us in the fridge which was very thoughtful and welcome. Unfortunately on this weekend breakfast was not available to us as self-caterers - worth checking before hand if you intend to rely on this service.

As everybody has said, the view from the balconies is wonderful. The caravan park is pretty well hidden and does not detract from the stunning location.

My only fault, and it is a minor one that I did not feel was bad enough to mention on site, was that at times there was a bad sewer smell outside, that on opening the balcony windows was sometimes evident and required us to close them earlier than we would have ideally liked.

Overall, one of the best B&B's I have stayed at in England. I am sure we will be returning soon.

Room Tip: They all look to be excellent

Hopefully, any bad smell outside was a one off incident caused by the wind direction and local conditions at the time, but if there is any repeat we will of course investigate further.

We're very pleased you otherwise enjoyed your stay at Chesil Beach Lodge and would like to return. You will be very welcome.

We spent two nights at Chesil Beach Lodge and thought it was absolutely wonderful.
The Golden Cap room has the most spectacular views overlooking the countryside and coast.there are also views of the cows and rabbits in the next field.
Having the breakfast in the room was a real treat and the full English breakfast was beautifully cooked (ignore the previous review about the sausage!)
The room was spacious and very clean with a very comforable bed.
If you want to treat yourself this is definitely the place to go!

My partner and I both have hectic work schedules and we wanted to have a relaxing break and treat ourselves to a bit of luxury, we made the right choice! We stayed in the Hive room for four nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, have to say we really didn't want to leave. The room was immaculate and the super king size bed was very comfortable but the owners Cyril and Linda have added so many nice little touches. Cakes on arrival was a lovely thought but simple things liked the varied choice of teas and coffee available, complimentary toiletries and an "honesty" bar etc. all added to make our stay perfect.

There was a wide choice for breakfast, which was delivered to our room on time and was superb.

Would highly recommend here as a place to stay, cant wait to return.

Room Tip: The view from the hive room was very good.

We chose this B&B for it's location on the dorset coast, the price, the modern style of the rooms and the fab view of the Golden Cap hill to the west and Chesil beach to the east. We were very happy with our choice. Room was clean, modern and spacious and the view of the Golden Cap from the bed was stunning. Bathroom also great with large shower (no bath). Room included small dining table to eat breakfast, fridge with milk for tea, coffee and cereals. Cooked breakfast was ordered the previous evening and served in the room at agreed time. Large TV in room, free WiFi and comfortable bed. Honesty bar available with reasonably priced beer and wine. Only very minor things to be aware of are road is quite close to building, there is a small caravan park in view towards the coast and the walls are a little thin. None of these things were an issue for us and we would definitely stay at the Chesil Beach lodge again.

Room Tip: The Golden Cap room has great view

We are very grateful for a very positive review overall. If we may we would like to comment on just one of the points made. The walls of this room and indeed most of the guest house have been doubled in thickness during modernisation and comply with the very latest acoustic regulations for hotels and guest houses.

It would be easy to drive past this building on the Coast Road, but all is not what it seems. Inside are a "family" building a new business. The room we had was Hardy, it was a beautiful studio, and as with all the rooms it has been renovated with style. Don't be put off by the carpets downstairs, it is due to be replaced. The views and the sunset are fantastic. Whilst the new owners continue to make improvements, sometimes you need to make comments.... We arrived in the month of May, not full summer, the evenings and nights were cold, but the heating goes off in April, they may need to rethink this policy as the bathroom was freezing. We also booked breakfast for the first morning which was great, but unknown to us, all the cereals and jams we left for the next day were removed which left us with nothing the next day, not great. However, we will be back, as things will I'm sure get better.

We are grateful for a generous review overall. If we may we would like to respond to a couple of the points made.

The central heating was switched off after the 1st week of May by which time the weather had become unseasonally warm. We are always happy to provide heating during the late spring or summer if circumstances dictate. Our bathrooms have year round heating available through heated towel rails which can be switched on at any time by guests. Unknown to us the heating element in this particular bathroom had just broken down and has already been replaced.

With the Hardy self-catering studio we are sometimes able to offer the facility of breakfast for a modest extra charge. The breakfast includes a choice of cereals followed by a choice of cooked. The wide choice is not intended to indicate that all cereals are purchased and therefore available for following days when breakfast has not been purchased as an extra. We apologise if there is any misunderstanding in this respect.
