We all enjoyed our stay at Gateham Grange very much and found the cottage very comfortable and homely with everything we needed. The location is in a beautiful area and ideally situated for the towns of Buxton, Bakewell, Matlock, Ashbourne and Leek. There are many beautiful villages close by including Alstonefield, Ilam, Wetton, Parwich, Hartington and Longnor, to name a few. There are also many beautiful walks in the area and in the Peak District generally.
Gateham Grange Farm is a very Interesting place to be part of the farming activities, depending on what is going on at the time. We were there during the Sheep Shearing and were able to watch close hand. there was lots of bleating as the lambs were separated close by while their mothers were shorn. Some of the sheep gave a little leap in the air in relief after having their warm heavy coats removed.
We found Robert, Teresa and Sam very friendly and helpful during our stay and look forward to seeing them again on our next visit.

“Great Family Peaks Farm Holiday Cottage”
Reviewed 10 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

We were met on arrival by the owner Teresa who was friendly and happy to show us about the working farm once we were settled. The cottage was spacious, clean and tidy with most everything you would need including a fully fitted out kitchen with all utensils. The cottage overlooked the farm with cows, sheep and chickens literally outside our windows which was wonderful for our excited 3 yr old.

The one minute walk to the top of the hill behind the cottage is well worth it for the wonderful views of the area.

Travelcot, and highchair were also provided and the cottage had most mod-cons (no landline). There is mobile reception in the cottage (i'm on O2) but can be a bit patchy.

All in all a wonderful cottage holiday with great owners, nothing seemed too much trouble for them. We would definitely book again.

“Great hideaway, beautiful nature, warm and welcoming hosts, great farm experience for children.”
Reviewed 16 March 2014 for a stay in February 2014

We are are family of 5 with three children under 7 years old. We stayed for 3 nights and were very pleased with our accommodation: the way it was equipped and its cleanliness and for a very reasonable price. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were heated well. The priceless was the additional experience of the farm life for all of us and especially for children. We were shown around the farm, saw lambing, fed new born lambs, stroke sheep, watched sheep being fed and moved from field to field, played with cats, climbed the nearby peak. Children were exploring the farm fields and freely played in the yard. The owners were very kind, relaxed accommodating and understanding.
We also visited Buxton and Tissington trail where we cycled and walked enjoying the amazing views.
Thank you for having us.
