Lovely cottage in a wonderful location. We visited from Australia and found the location excellent for for seeing Chatsworth House, Bakewell and Matlock Bath by car.
The cottage was well equipped and it was wonderful to have some fresh milk on arrival for those essential cups of tea!
We would have loved to use the complimentary wood and coal for the fireplace. However neither of us knew how to use a fireplace or had ever made a fire before as such things are a unique oddity where we come from and we're usually trying to get cool rather than warm. I need to get educated in fireplace etiquette.
I would highly recommend this cottage for a cosy and relaxing stay in the Peak District.
The cottage is perfectly situated for walking and is dog friendly. It has everything you need and having an open fire is a bonus. It did rain most of the time sadly but it didn't stop us getting out and about. There was a strange smell however in the kitchen but nowhere else in the property. Some lovely goodies left for us - thank you.
My husband, myself and our 2 dogs had a lovely long weekend at Bankside cottage. It is positioned on a quiet road, is warm and comfy and, much to our dogs' delight there are adventures to be had every day right from the front door! The master bedroom is large and spacious with a huge bed which is very comfy. Downstairs the rooms are small, but the kitchen is very well equipped with everything that you could need and more. A lot of thought has obviously gone into the cottage, it is tastefully decorated and what stood out to me was that the settees felt new, were spotlessly clean and comfy (this isn't always the case!) Vicki, the owner is very efficient and helpful; I got the impression that it was as important to her, as it was to us, that we had a good stay there.
Dad and 2 young adult daughters, eldest of which has just returned to the u.k from working in Vietnam for 6 months and we missed her.
We had 3 nights at Bankside, regrouping and bonding :)....the cottage was incredibly comfortable, and, for the most had quality items....bedding being lovely. My two shard the larger room which was tastefully fitted with lovely items which lends an air of luxury. The smaller double room (mine) was equally lovely, whilst being smaller it's easily spacious enough for 2 adults.
The bathroom, again warm and spacious, it actually has a shower that's very big and has a quality shower with excellent water flow and temperature control.
The lounge with its open fire is a delight in the evening for talking, games, reading etc. The kitchen is very well equipped (I think toast racks are ancient relics these days ;)). Loved the sink !... again as much hot water as required.
Dining room very cosy . Boot room and washer/ dryer room very useful, we didn't use them but looked perfect.
Overall we had a lovely time and enjoyed many walks in one of my favourite areas, a couple of visits on the way back to the George pub, nice people.
Hosts were super efficient, friendly and helpful offering to post an item which I'd forgotten within a day of leaving. All in All perfect :)
A perfect little cottage in a perfect location. Great walking from the doorstep and to cap it all some lovely pubs within walking distance.
What a beautiful cottage, in the most splendid countryside! A child friendly, very cosy and well equipped holiday home. Ideal for a weekend break with lots to do in the surrounding area. For a child-friendly pub with great food, lovely staff and a cosy feel, try, The Royal Oak in Wetton. Our children were too small for long walks, but if you are a keen walker I would highly recommend this cottage for its location with many beautiful walks on its doorstep (literally).
