We received a warm welcome and felt at home immediately. There was a welcome pack of tea, coffee, sugar and milk and some tasty local ginger biscuits. We were shown how to turn up the heating ( we didn't need it), where to find the start of the footpath to reach the local shop ( about a 20 minute walk through countryside) and where the horses and rabbits lived. We cooked evening meals for 7 and the kitchen was very well equipped. There is plenty of room in the lounge area for adults to relax and for the children to spread out and play. We made good use of the patio area, which is accessed from the lounge, and the children loved the adjacent large grassed area with swings, slider and trampoline. We could also see the play equipment from the kitchen, which meant we could cook whilst keeping an eye on the children. The beds were very comfortable and there was loads of storage space, even our suitcases were tucked away. We would definitely go back to Elm Cottage!
