We've visited this B&B a few times now and for good reason - the location, the way you are welcomed and the breakfast from the amazing cooked breakfast to Janes excellent home baked bread....gets you so bad you don't want to leave. This B&B is ideally suited for exploring local attractions such as Chatsworth, Hadden Hall, to mention a few. Do yourself a favour - visit Tom & Jame and I promise you'll go back time an again!!

Thanks so much for your lovely comments, glad you liked the bread, hope the suntan is coming along fine, it's been lovely and sunny again today!
It was great having you both to stay, was like having old friends back again, enjoy the rest of the summer and please look us up again next time you're in the area, as guests we rate you 5*!

Great b and b in a lovely quiet location. Rooms are large and very clean. Thoroughly enjoyed breakfast as well. Good pub up the road for dinner. You will want for nothing here and we shall definitely be back.

Room Tip: We stayed in Skylark but assume they are all just as lovely

A lovely cottage in a great location. The room we had was spacious, very clean and well laid out. The ensuite was immaculate. We had a warm welcome from the owners who were very helpful in suggesting where we could spend our time exploring the area. It was great to be offered fresh milk with the tea making facilities and there were other goodies (apple juice, bottled water and biscuit bars ) available. We were advised to try out a local pub for our evening meal and were given a card offering us 10% discount. Breakfast was served in a room overlooking the garden and trees. It was superb and there was a terrific choice of food items. We had a lovely stay, even though it was only for one night, and located between Chesterfield and Sheffield the cottage was very convenient for a twenty minute drive into Bakewell. Great!

We stayed here for 3 nights in wet and windy February and enjoyed every minute of it.

Nesfield Cottage is along a short private road, clearly sign-posted from the main road into Barlow. from which it is just a ten-minute walk. Barlow itself has few amenities, but it is only a ten-minute drive into Chesterfield. The area is lovely and quiet; if you like waking to silence apart from the sound of songbirds, then this is the place for you.

Jane and Tom greeted us warmly on arrival, offering home-made tea-cake to take into our room. Very yummy it was too; just like all the home-made food we ate whilst we were there!

The cottage offers just 3 guest rooms, 1 on the ground floor and 2 upstairs. We were in 'Skylark' upstairs. This was a large room looking out over the back of the property featuring a massive bed with plenty of space for chairs and wardrobes and all the usual accoutrements. The en-suite was excellent with great shower and like everywhere else in the cottage it was spotlessly clean.

We were surprised that we had a good phone signal (EE) and Tom switched on the repeater for us which provided a decent, stable, free wi-fi in the room.

Breakfasts were marvellous. In particular I will mention the splendid bacon, the home-made bread fresh each morning and the home-made plum jam. Jane is a home-cooking gem, although I think Tom was responsible for cooked breakfasts.

Over the years we have encountered all sorts of B&B hosts, and I reckon Jane and Tom are the best of them all. They were friendly and knowledgeable without being pushy or too attentive. This is a fine art that not many hosts manage, but Jane and Tom have it cracked.

When you combine the wonderful cottage, the great hosts and excellent value for money, it is no surprise that Nesfield Cottage gets excellent reviews, and they are genuinely well-merited. I would love to come back again, when the weather is warmer and drier!

Room Tip: None of the rooms had 'vistas'; they all overlooked the back garden and are not overlooked b...

Nesfield House is an incredible B & B. from the lovely welcome on arrival to the rather sad goodbye when we had to leave you are immediately at home. Everything you could possibly want is provided for you, rest assured if you have thought of it Jane and Tom have already anticipated it. The rooms are spotless and the breakfast with it's very wide choice is fantastic. We were there to say farewell to a very dear friend but we were so well looked after it helped enormously. We will be back in the summer.
Breakfast with a lesser spotted woodpecker outside the window and a herd of deer by the lane is something else. I cannot recommend this home from home enough. Thank you Jane and Tom for a great stay

I know it was a sad occasion but thanks for the lovely comments and come back in the summer to see all the birds and wildlife - the badgers are busily digging up the grass at the moment but sneaking in in the middle of the night for their manouvers!
Best regards,

Great B&B for everyone! Everything was absolutely perfect: the welcoming, the service, the room, ecc. Not even to mention the 3 course breakfast menù in a wonderful Christmas atmosphere.
The place is not easy to find for who's not confident with the area but for this reason extremely quiet, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the nature and the surroundings.

Just home from a blissful two nights at Nesfield Cottage. Thank-you Jane and Tom for a much needed break from the hubbub of Christmas - the peace, quiet and tranquility of your beautiful home provided Mum and I with a perfect 'mother-daughter' break. Our room - Lapwing - was warm, cosy - a home from home. Breakfast was delicious and although it was just the two of us with you, we appreciated the extensive choice: fresh fruits; home-made porridge; home-baked bread - and all with the view of countless birds enjoying the garden feeders. Seeing (twice) a Greater Spotted Woodpecker was a joy! As was the sight of deer galloping in the morning dew yesterday. We look forward to staying with you again and wish you and your family a very happy Christmas. With love, Rebecca and Ruth x x x.
