The Millenium walkway rises above the River Goyt and gives a wonderful view of the river and Torrs riverside park. There is even a resident heron which is often stood on the opposite bank just below the weir waiting for fish. Built to link the riverside park to New Mills Central train station it is used by both visitors and local walkers. It is a rare example of public money being used to build something both beautiful and useful which is well liked by the local community! It is only few minutes walk from Torrs Hydro further upsteam. This is a community owned renewable electricity generation scheme which is also well worth checking out if your visiting the area.
