“Short Weekend Away”
Reviewed 10 May 2014 via mobile

Lovely stay here, staff were all friendly, room was nice and clean. The adjacent pub, which is part of the overall inn, was great and served very nice food and well priced wine. it's so refreshing to sit in a pub on a Friday night and not be distracted by loud music, games machines and everything else. Location is great with plenty of short walks and breathtaking scenery. Will definitely stay here again and would fully recommend to couples, families and groups!

A group of us stayed at the weekend. We have been there several times now and the place is faultless! Beautiful accomodation and food. Lovely touches in the rooms, fresh fruit, fresh milk, and sweets etc. Lovely views, very clean and very friendly staff. Beautiful scenic walks close by, and not too far from other tourist attractions. A better quality place would be very hard to find in the peak district, and we will most definately return here again and again as it is so welcoming. Angie and friends

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent, but we stay in the executive rooms as there is a liitle more space, but the...

We stayed for a weekend break to attend a family party locally. The room had views over the countryside and provided all the facilities we needed. Lovely large bed, seating area with sofa and bathroom including all the 'usual' hotel toiletries. The flask of fresh milk was a nice touch with the tea and coffee tray.

We enjoyed dinner in the restaurant area then moved into the bar for a drink. The food was delicious and the staff were a compliment to the owners who must spend a lot of time training them in the way service should be.

Overall an excellent place to stay and eat.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms have far reaching views across the countryside.

The Pack Horse Inn combines the cosiness of a country pub with the luxury of a 5-star hotel. We stayed in one of the larger rooms which was spacious, comfortable, well-furnished and overlooked rolling countryside. The staff were friendly and welcoming and provided lovely touches such as fresh fruit in the room and fresh milk on the hospitality tray (a simple measure that many 4 and 5 star hotels overlook). The restaurant offers a good range of locally produced food and a very reasonably priced wine list. The location is quiet and rural, but not too distant from the nearest town and is ideally placed for exploring the peaks. This was without doubt one of the best inns we have stayed and provides excellent value for money. I would highly recommend it.

The room (room 6) was reasonably large and quite pleasant and well equipped. The bed was good (not so sure about pillows!) and the bathroom excellent. Pity that we looked out on builders' huts which were not very attractive!
Staff try hard to make the stay enjoyable and are very helpful. Breakfast was good - but ends at 9.30 which was a problem on Sunday morning for us when the clocks went forward an hour. But the staff were very good and we still ate.
Wi-fi was a problem in our room at first but that seemed to be resolved by the time we left. Had a good meal in the restaurant at reasonable prices.
We will return.
