A wonderful parish church. But the start turn is the crypt below the east end of the church. This was where 3 Kings of the Saxon Merica were laid to rest.

It is 30 years since I last visited Repton Church; and I still find the survival of an Anglo-Saxon crypt amazing. You are able to walk into the crypt - take care on the steps, and there is a light to help you. You step back in time - amazing. The rest of the Church is well-cared for - a bit over-restored in Victorian times - what a lot they destroyed!! Good information available. Interesting to see the history of the church was by Harold Taylor - vice-chancellor of Keele when we were students there in the 1960s!!!

I found out about this church from a book I have of curious places in Derbyshire, I was so thrilled with it, I visited twice in one week! It is a lovely church and Repton is a great place to have a walk around with lots of old buildings, such as the school, thatched cottages and history. inside the church it is obviously very peaceful but the crypt is the most exciting part, it is such a beautiful hidden gem. the atmosphere is so spiritual and peaceful and this room is meant to create miraculous healing, you are invited to light a candle to heal and pray for others as well. They also have a good selection of books and leaflets on repton walks an the church and postcards to buy. I will definitely be visiting again.
