Lovely place here. Kim showed us around the lodge and told us the history of the place. There is a great little sauna, big full size snooker table and lots of places to relax. We stayed in room number 4 and had a lovely view out into the country. The bathroom is massive. Little treats in the room and has a great big comfy bed. Kim said 'its a home from home' and it really is that. We felt so welcomed. The goats outside like a little stroke, wish we had brought them some food. So peaceful. We walked less than 5 minutes to the 'Shoulder' pub. The meals there were all home cooked and was really tasty food. Big open fire as well. We came back, had a game on the big snooker table and made our way up....but not before getting a few treats from the fridge which you can pay for. Very trusting. In the morning you had all the choices that you could wish for. Cereals, fruit, yoghurt, toast and tea on tap and all a great full English breakfast. Would love to visit again in the not too distant future. Would highly recommend to all.

Room Tip: We had room number 4 which had a great view

this is a fabulous place - the decor in the rooms is really lovely - much more akin to what you'd expect in a good quality hotel not a B & B. The owners are really nice friendly people - nothing is too much trouble - but they are not intrusive. There is quite a large space for residents to use with pool table and honesty bar and sofas and its located right next door to a great pub serving fantastic home-cooked food in quite modern surrounds. The breakfast was really nice too. It is fully wheelchair accessible too.

There are nice grounds with a hot tub (don't know if that works as it wasn't on when we stayed) and its in a lovely country location but also very close to Junction 29 of M1. The couple's goats were a particular hit with my son.

This would be a great place for a group of friends to get together but also a nice place for couples to stay. I would whole-heartedly recommend and will definitely be back.

Room Tip: large rooms had a sofa and more floor space but other rooms looked nice also

It's not often that I write a reminder to myself when I get in the car after leaving overnight accomodation to put a recommendation on Trip Advisor. This place is as Tina Turner would say - "Simply The Best".

From the moment I arrived I was warmly welcomed by John and personally shown round the facilities, he even put the sauna on for me.

No need to list the many extras which all the other reviewers have mentioned, this place has facilities that some four and five star hotels would envy. My room was spotless, free Wi Fi and even a chocolate on the pillow. Towelling robe was provided for my sauna at no extra charge.

I had dinner in the pub next door which was reasonable and of a good standard, although the pub was very quiet and reserved.

This place is now on my top three, and even looking for an excuse to stay near Nottingham again.

Room Tip: Room 2 was spacious with a good view, only small point to note was TV was on far wall.

My wife and I stayed 2 nights at Whitton Lodge, we had a garden room which was immaculate and well appointed. Used the hot tub which again was very clean and a great place to relax. Weather was not great but didn't matter too much as room was comfortable and airy. Revisited my youth with a game of snooker on the well kept table before going for an evening meal at the nearby Shoulder Pub. Food here was very good and reasonably priced.
Whitton Lodge is a great base to explore the Peak District from and the breakfast sets you up for the day.
Will definitely return as it was almost certainly the best B&B I have ever stayed in.

Room Tip: Ask for a garden room but I am sure you won't be disappointed with any of the rooms.

We had a lovely stay here.

We had room 1 which was huge! It had a corner sofa as well as dressing table and usual bedside cupboards, lots of wardrobe space and massive full height window looking over the large car park and goat field. Nice spacious bathroom. The only way this room could be enhanced would be to upgrade the bed to a king size which would still look small in such a big room.

This is a lovely countryside spot, with a good pub where 4 of us enjoyed an excellent meal. The only downside is that it is the only place to eat within walking distance and they don't do evening meals on Sundays.

Facilities at Whitton Lodge are impressive. Enormous lounge with a full size snooker table as well as 2 comfy sofas. There is a smaller room with a variety of gym equipment/ machines in it, a sauna, and a reading room.

All of these facilities are topped off with the most friendly, cheerful and helpful B&B owners we've come across in many years! Nothing was too much trouble, even our request to join in feeding the delightful goats - thanks Kim!

We stayed at Whitton Lodge on Saturday night (9th June) having come up to Chesterfield to see the Elton John concert and to visit family in Derbyshire.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were made to feel very welcome by the owners Kim and John and their family. Loved our room which was spotless with a very comfy bed. We loved the idea of the honesty bar and breakfast on Sunday morning was superb.

We also stopped off on Saturday afternoon for lunch at the nearby pub The Shoulder. Food was excellent.

Highly recommend that anyone in the Chesterfield area stays at Whitton Lodge - you will not be dissappointed!
