“funky and fun with great food and service”
Reviewed 1 March 2011

Stayed for a friends 40th bash and pushed the boat out and stayed in the loren suite.
Checked in at the bar which was a bit strange but very smooth.
The suite was fantastic beautifully decorated and finished , very trendy and quirky.
The building is old with all the original beams and stonework , by the looks of it, but the decor is quite contemporary,
Ate in the restaurant in the evening with the rest of the party.
Food was tapas and it was fantastic.
Tasty , varied and very well presented
The staff were young but very friendly and efficient.
Only criticism was no fruit or yoghurt in the morning, they had run out.
All in all though a great little hotel with a lively fun atmosphere.

I was lucky enough to be recommended this hotel by a friend so me and my partner went for a weekend in January. We stayed in the hepburn suite and i have to say that i was amazed with the quality and decor and service. We arrived late on the friday night and the staff were very helpful and accomodating, the bar was alive with people which for a January was a suprise. The food (Tapas) we had that evening was to die for, very pleased with the whole weekend and i look forward to staying there again very soon.

The Manor House Hotel is located close to the centre of Dronfield, which is in-between Shefield and Chesterfield. My first impression was that it was more like a country pub with a few rooms attached, rather than a purpose-built hotel. I checked in at the bar (as their isn't a "proper" reception area) and was welcomed by a friendly and helpful lady who showed me to my room.

I've stayed at the Manor House a couple of times, once in a single room and once in a double. The single room was very small and you can almost stand in the middle of the room and touch all four walls. That said, it was clean, well decorated and had all the amenities you'd expect for the price (flat screen TV, ironing board, Tea/Coffee making facilities, nice bathroom with shower).

The double I stayed in was a much better size, but had a very low ceiling, due to age of the building, which did make the room feel a little cramped. Again, the room was clean and well presented, but did suffer a little from traffic noise on the road outside the hotel. However, the noise outside didn't affect my sleep as the bed was very comfortable. I have read some reviews that complained of noise from the bar below the rooms and I can say both times I've stayed this wasn't a problem.

Overall, this is a comfortable and friendly hotel and offers fairly good value for money. Don't expect a "boutique hotel" as the Manor House is more like an upmarket B&B.

We booked this last minute as most hotels in Sheffield seemed booked up. We needed to be near to Sheffield but thought that by the Manor being a little distance away it would make up for it with a comfortable and relaxing stay. We were wrong.
Room 11, The Bacall was classed as a double? the bed was pushed up against one wall and there was no room for a bedside cabinet either side of the bed. We had to pull up the only chair in the room to put a glass of water on. The only way of turning lights off once in bed was to climb out and switch off at the door. No bedside lights as no bedside!
The shower room was nicely decorated and clean, but the shower was a little on the small side and not very effective until my wife cleaned the shower head which made a small improvement in the flow. The bedroom was nicely presented but must have been a single with a view to optimising proffit by sticking in a double bed. The staff were friendly and helpful and the pub pleasant and welcoming.

Just returned from here, firstly I would say it is very clean and nicely decorated, staff lovely.
Downside was that I was expecting a hotel not a B&B, this is definately more a B&B. Room was tiny for a luxury double, small shower, no bath. Room was small for the cost of the room.
Room noisy until 12am from the dishwasher downstairs.
Very close to the train station, 15mins on train to Sheffield.

Me and my wife have stayed at The Manor House Hotel several times and have found that the standards are consistently brilliant. Food is top quality, staff are friendly and attend to your every need if they possibly can, rooms are clean and modern with a stylish twist. Situated easily for Sheffield, Chesterfield and the Peak District which is handy as we are keen ramblers. Would recommend anytime!

spent two nights in the manor house, the staff were very friendly and helpfull, the food was of a good standard, the room we stayed in was a bit too small for a double (room 6 the Garbo ) it was however very clean and was serviced well the downside for me was the noise from the high street during the early hours of the morning even after consuming a large amount of malt whisky during saturday evening I still found it hard to sleep
