“Beautifully appointed getaway”
Reviewed 1 February 2017 for a stay in January 2017

This cottage more than lived up to the previous reviews. Quiet location, very nicely appointed, room for 2 cars. The Kelstedge Inn is a 10 minute walk and pubs in Ashover a 5 minute drive. Lots of gentle walks from the door, a great weekend meeting up with our son and his girlfriend.

“Wonderful weekend in a superb modern cottage”
Reviewed 23 November 2016 for a stay in November 2016

Stayed a weekend with my cousin and his wife who are on a long term let. Glass fronted property with a lovely walk in lounge, under floor heating, modern kitchen with everything you could want for cooking, spacious worktops, great lighting, comfortable chairs around large table . Upstairs two good size bedrooms both with en suite bathrooms, sympathetically decorated. Car parking space is plentiful. Ideal location for walkers, sight seeing, several nearby villages with some lovely pubs. Highly recommended.

“Oasis in the Peaks”
Reviewed 5 October 2016 for a stay in September 2016

My wife and toddler stayed at Cavendish Cottages for a four night decompress after a busy July/August and it provided the perfect tonic.
The location is within easy reach, not far from Matlock but is situated down a single-track lane which helps feel like you are properly escaping from the rat race.
The accommodation is beautifully presented; I am not sure when it was refurbished but it very recently done. Everything is there that you will need and it is particularly focused towards walkers and dog owners.
We briefly met the owners who live in the cottage behind who friendly and helpful but not intrusive.
We would highly recommend Cavendish Cottages to anyone looking access the National Park, visit nearby Chatsworth House or, like us, just chill.

“Simply Wonderful”
Reviewed 25 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We regularly work and stay in and around the Peak National Park and fortunately came across Cavendish Cottage, top quality dog friendly accommodation in which we have stayed twice already and going back again very soon. It is by far the best quality accommodation we have come across in this area. The property is located about ½ mile off the main Matlock to Chesterfield road, both are worth a visit. The cottage is set in lovely countryside down a single track lane, it has been recently refurbished and everything is brand new. Set within the grounds of owners house, Andy and Helen are warm friendly hosts who have been very helpful on both our visits, there is parking for two cars if needed and you have your own picket fence garden with table, bench seats and BBQ, the garden is great if you have young children and/or dogs. The front of the cottage is more or less completely glazed with two sets of French Doors making it bright and airy, I love sitting at the dining table watching the activity at the bird feeders, the downstairs is spacious and completely open plan with a quality well equipped kitchen and appliances, good size dining table for four and a comfy sofa and armchair, I am yet to use the log burner but already looking forward to the winter. There is an under stairs cupboard which was useful for storing coats and boots. There are two small flights of stairs that lead to the two upstairs bedrooms, not difficult for the less mobile. Upstairs has two en-suite bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with two singles that you can push together if you want. The beds are comfy with what I would call firm mattresses, the double room has a cupboard with hanging space and a chest of drawers storage, the en-suite shower room has a spacious walk in shower that has over- head soaker which is pure pleasure after a hard day, the twin room has chest of drawers storage and the an en-suite has a lovely big L- Shaped bath which also has a shower. The nearest pub to Cavendish Cottage is The Kelstedge which is within walking distance and there are three pubs in Ashover for those happy to walk a little further, we ate at The Kelstedge twice and had good pub meals on both occasions, and The Poets in Ashover is worth a visit for both food and their real ale. I would highly recommend this property as a homely feel and creature comforts are my priority, the hosts being warm friendly people is a bonus.

We are so pleased you enjoyed your time here, especially Bertie. We have now installed a freezer and so sorry you found difficulty with the french doors, they do have mechanisms to retain them which unfortunately had not been included in the information folder, this has now been added. At the time of your stay the drying/boot room had not been completed but is now up and running with large suspended drying rack and tumble dryer. We do have to drive past the cottage to reach our property and ensure that all cars are hidden from view to make the most of the private woodland and views available to our guests. We are delighted you loved Derbyshire and got to visit our local show, knowing that you will come back to the area is very gratifying indeed.

“Beautiful cottage with the wow factor”

Cavendish Cottage has the real wow factor with its open plan layout down stairs with a lovely sitting area with comfy sofa and a log burner, dining area with stylish lighting and modern, well equiped kitchen. You can sit in the amazing reading chair and watch an array of birds which visit the feeders.  Upstairs there are two large bedrooms both thoughtfully furnished with comfortable beds and good quality linen.  Both bedrooms have ensuite facilities that have been stylishly fitted. Outside there are beautiful gardens and the cottage has its own fenced garden which is perfect for children.  It is in a lovely rural location but surprisingly close to all the wonderful sites of the peak district.  We would highly recommend Cavendish cottage.
