“Everything you could want in a self-catering cottage”
Reviewed 26 November 2012 for a stay in November 2012

This was our fifth stay at Wildflower Cottages and our fourth in Foxglove Cottage. Sue and Chris are very welcoming - the comforts tray on arrival always exceeds our expectations - far better than in most hotels or B&Bs. We always take our Shetland Sheepdog with us and he loves both the comfort of the cottage and the walks from the door. Guides, suggestions for walks and maps of the local area - and what's on - are extremely useful. There are many places to visit and advice on pubs and restaurants from previous visitors - and Derbyshire is beautiful in all seasons.
The real fire in the lounge is always well used at this time of year and the amount of coal and logs included in the rental is easily enough for the first two nights. We have yet to look for something we'd like to use and find that something is missing, especially in the kitchen. The cottage is always very clean on arrival and always seems to have been improved in some way since we last came.
We love Chatsworth which is only about 20 minutes or so away (as is Chesterfield with its excellent shopping facilities). We buy from the Chatsworth farm shop when we arrive for the week ahead, and again just before we leave, especially meat for the freezer at home.
We cannot recommend these cottages highly enough and have already booked our return in the spring 2013. It's always very relaxing, so we cannot wait!

Liked best: Comprehensive equipment in the kitchen + the warm welcome
Liked least: A pub within easier walking distance would be nice but in some ways the shortish distance from facilities is one of its attractions.

“A cosy cottage off the beaten track but close to ameneties”
Reviewed 9 September 2012 for a stay in September 2012

Cannot recommend this cottage highly enough. I've stayed in many self catering cottages and one of the first requirements has always been to start writing a shopping list for basic essentials. Not so here. The owners provided everything one could possibly need.
The information folders are very well organised. Where to eat: Excursions for a Rainy Day: Local walks and maps are all available for use.
We had wonderful weather, but If we had experienced bad weather, it would have been so cosy to light the fire and put on reading lamps and listen to the rain outside. The central heating system is modern and we had no problems with hot water.
Can't wait to go back.

“Perfect for Derbyshire and the Peak District”

We recently booked this cottage for our first ever trip to Derbyshire. Cottage on arrival was very clean, tidy, and very well equipped for all our needs and had a lovely welcome hamper in both the kitchen and bathroom. The cottage is situated in a lovely quiet hamlet up a lane to which has no throughfare only for walkers. The cottage itself had a lovely cottage garden which overlooked fields and was equipped with garden furniture and bar-b-que.There are several lovely pubs within a close walk which provided excellent food and drink. The cottage also contained folders stacked with both information and helpfull feedback on places to visit and eat and drink in the area. Wouldf definately stay again and recommend.
