“Just as good today as it was 25 years ago. Just love North Devon”
Reviewed 1 September 2013 for a stay in August 2013

Just brilliant. Lesley and Pete have got it spot on. Swallow Barn is great. Perfect size for 4 and the garden is great. Not to mention their own private meadow. Just magic. Only wished we'd had longer. Thank you for making The Hemmings holiday really good. Xx

“short stay”
Reviewed 15 April 2013 for a stay in April 2013

we stayed at swallow barn in april and found it very nice, lesley and pete are lovely hosts, we presumed there would be towels in the cottage, but only if you go b&b, lesley gave us some no problem, lovely part of the country, only grumble would be iffy wifi and poor mobile coverage, but all in all great break, thanks pete &lesley.

“A regular nesting place”
Reviewed 26 July 2012 for a stay in November 2011

One big living area overlooking the spacious garden (reached directly through a door downstairs) means that you move effortlessly from the galley kitchen to the dining area to the sitting space where two sofas and a deep armchair offer comfortable relaxation in front of the television if you don't want to read, But these are places to come home to (and it does very quickly feel like home) because there is such a variety of things to do close at hand that it is difficult to resist setting out on a new adventure every day. However like the swallows that give their name to the barn, we have been drawn to return to this small haven not only each evening but year after year, Don't go thinking you will only stay there once, go expecting that when you leave you will only be hibernating before you need to return.

“Everything we wanted, and more....”
Reviewed 6 June 2012 for a stay in May 2012

We recently stayed at Swallow Barn, along with our dog. We often use self catering accommodations, and this was the most immaculate, yet still user friendly, comfortable one we have stayed in. We were WOWed by the bright airy lounge (upstairs) which looks out directly into the trees through a huge window, and a vast variety of birds visit the feeders just outside each day. The entire place is thoughtfully laid out and equipped (and everything works!). The bedrooms (downstairs) are comfortable and have more than enough cupboard space. The owners, Lesley and Peter, were always on hand if needed, and the property had its own information folder for local amenities, beaches etc. The garden area is large and communal, and a very pleasant shady place to sit on a sunny afternoon. A short walk to the lakes (recently acquired by the owners) was well worthwhile, and my fisherman husband was happy (and surprised) with some of his catches! For dog owners the property is in easy reach of some dog friendly beaches, and the local pub staff welcomed our dog in when it was too hot for her to be in the car while we had dinner. The accommodation and the area were everything we wanted from a week's break, and we returned home three very happy, relaxed souls!
