I booked Au Ralenti du Lierre based solely on the reviews on TripAdvisor and was not disappointed! All comments are correct... The place is great, really cool as well as pretty. A great centre for exploring the Luberon. Thierry was so attentive and enthusiastic; except that he was so good at his role, you would have thought you were his first ever guests. Breakfast was delicious but served only between 9 and 10 (a good reason to get you out of bed). Our room was huge with a separate lounge area and the bathroom was very decadent. Highly recommended!

After a week in the hustle and bustle of Paris, our stay at Au Ralenti du Lierre was a welcome change of pace. Thierry and Serge were incredibly helpful, friendly, and funny, and have put together an all-around great B&B in the heart of a terrific region. The whole place is wonderfully decorated, and the garden and pool area are perfectly rustic (in a characteristically provencal but hip way). Parts of the building date from the tenth century.

Thierry was very helpful from the start, and made a reservation for us at a great restaurant in Gordes for our first night. The next night, we enjoyed the fruits of our market day labors on the terrace. On both nights, we were able to relax late in the evening while watching shooting stars from the pool deck.

Although the village in which the property is located does not have much to offer, it is centrally located to everything that you could hope to see in the area. It is also quite close to a busy road, but (and I'm not making this up), the sound of the few cars at night, reflected off the cliffs above the property, sounded like distant waves crashing on a beach, and was actually quite nice, but it's possible that the whole atmosphere had just put me in an optimistic mood.

Anyway, we wish that we had chosen to stay longer!

Room Tip: We stayed in the room right next to the garden / pool area, and it was terrific!

Upon arriving at Au Ralenti, we were pleasantly surprised by how lovely this B&B was. The decor was amazing, there was even a faint smell of lavender on the sheets. Everything was very clean (which is something I worry about with small hotels/B&Bs) The owner Thierry was incredibly friendly and helped us find some great restaurants and other things to do in the surrounding towns. The town doesn't have much to offer, however it is a centrally located town and within 5-15 minutes drive to many fun destinations (where you will have to pay double to stay at their hotels). Breakfast was good (fresh fruit, bread, fresh squeezed orange juice and strangely a brownie), and the pool and patio area was very relaxing. We shopped the market during the day and bought local wine, cheese, tapanades, strawberries, and enjoyed stargazing at night. Our only regret was we didn't stay longer!!

Room Tip: our room was great, it was one flight up and just to the right of the pool.

We stayed three nights in this marvelous place to explore the region and we could not have chosen better.
Most of the descriptions in the reviews so far have said it all. Charming and multi lingual hosts, tastefully elegant decor, fresh produce for breakfast ( and of course those brownies), clean functional rooms, all with a small village feel and ambience.
A very good base for exploring the Luberon and surrounding areas.

My husband and I spent five nights at Au Ralenti du Lierre in April. What a beautiful comfortable property with charming and delightful hosts. The decor is stunning, not your cliched b&b chintz, but creative and thoughtful. Theirry and Serge were helpful with great suggestions about the area. They really made the stay special. The pool is pretty, although too chilly to use while we were there. Loved the guest kitchen with fridge and honor bar which let us come back in the afternoon to a snack of local wine and cheese. The rooms are large and comfortable. One should understand that this is not a hotel-no restaurant, telephone or tv in the room but if one wants a delightful, convenient spot for exploring the area it's a great choice.

Room Tip: We stayed in a charming room next to the pool. The winding stairs might be an issue for some. No e...

My husband I and stayed here for 3 nights in April while we explored the Luberon region of Provence (villages such as Bonnieux, Gordes, Goult, Sault, Menerbes, etc.), and we loved it!

It is the most beautifully, tastefully, artistically decorated place. The rooms are chic, in perfect condition, and extremely clean. The (small) pool area is gorgeous, too. There is a (beautiful, of course) little kitchenette for guests where you can store your own food in a fridge if you wish, and/or eat meals and snacks.

Theirry and Serge are charming, friendly, helpful and bi-lingual.

Theirry's breakfasts of homebaked brownies (!!!!), bread with delicious jams and fresh OJ were delightful.

We can't wait to return!

Room Tip: The room we stayed in was on the top floor facing the street, and was gorgeous. It had a charming ba...

My wife and I spent about a week at Au Ralenti du Lierre during the summer of 2011. Tucked into the tiny village of Beaumettes, it was the ideal home base for our Luberon holiday.

The house itself is several hundred years old and has been lovingly and respectfully renovated. The hosts have a great eye, adorning all areas of the home with folk art and antiques that range from whimsical to exquisite. Our room was large and airy, with a very comfortable bed, modern bathroom and a private terrace just off the pool area. The pool itself was meticulously maintained and offered a refreshing escape from the summer heat. A nice surprise was the small communal guest kitchen featuring a fridge, dishes, cutlery and a pair of amazing antique stone sinks. It was perfect for preparing a late afternoon snack of the local meats, breads, cheeses and wine we found during our daily adventures.

Breakfasts were delicious, featuring an assortment of fruits, fresh pastries, their famous homemade brownies and the some of the best coffee I have ever tasted.

Of course, what really made the stay memorable were Thierry and Serge, our delightful, gracious hosts, Not only did they they make us feel right at home, but if needed, they were quick to offer advice and helpful information. Whether it was planning a day of antiquing at Isle sur la Sorgue, a hike up to the abbey in Saignon or dinner reservations at a local hot spot, their knowledge and insight proved invaluable. In short, we found the combination of setting and hospitality to be unbeatable! If we ever again find ourselves in that part of southern France, we know where we will be staying.
