“Service from manageress deflated the evening.”
Reviewed 21 June 2014

I regularly visit this beautiful place with both family and friends. I even recommend it to lots of people.
However, this evening when I was served by the manageress/ owner, she first got my two drinks wrong, which I kept quiet about, then continued to serve me in an off manner, bit huffy, and very rude.
When I was joined by my dad, her whole attitude towards him was joyous and friendly, and then totally off when
back to me :-(
Not once did she initiate conversation during payment.
I feel so upset, cos I love this establishment.
Must say the food was delicious, and those staff attentive.

“great food VERY child friendly”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

food to please 3 generations..mum,children and grandchildren...my chilli was lovely....difficult to please son still talking about the flavour of his ham and cheese pannini..daughter still moaning that they wouldn't give us the recipe for the dipping sauce that was with her calamari...must have been good as she wouldn't share...2 yr old grand daughter finished her plate of pasta and cheese (genius for putting that on the menu) in her words 'delicious..my favourite' only plate of food she cleared all week would return here often if I lived on IOW

“Excellent pub grub”
Reviewed 5 June 2014

This pub does what it says on the tin. Although it is essentially fast food pub and depends on high turnover the service is especially good, the atmosphere humming and the food quality excellent. Value is good:£40 for two courses and drinks for two which cost £6/7 less than places which set themselves up to be a better class of pub but whose food is no better. We walked I without booking on Wed May 28 and we're found a table in minutes but you can book. Highly recommended

“good food, the prices didnt make me cry”
Reviewed 4 June 2014

the food was your standard pub food, and as with all food prices in the isle of wight, they were somewhat inflated.
The place was very busy and although we were seated without reservation, we were then given a time to leave the table by, which, when the food is then delayed made me feel under pressure to wolf my dinner down. I felt this was very unfair as i litterally put my fork down and had to get up out my seat to leave... not relaxing.
So other than the fact that we were effectively timed and rushed to eat our food, it was nice. cant grumble about the food we eventually recieved.
I think, having only eaten there once, our experience is purely circumstantial and not a true reflection of your everyday experience there, hence why i gave it an average score rather than a low one.

Reviewed 3 June 2014

we have been going to this pub for meals for a few years now as I live on the Island and the food is always perfect never had one complaint and the portions are large enough to fill you up often so much so we cannot eat a pudding would highly recommend this place for a meal, served almost immediately food hot and tasty with a great variation for vegetarians
