We were visiting friends who were staying at the Caravan Club site just up the road and some other people on the site recommended The Pointer for lunch...we were so glad they did! The menu is varied and seems to cater for all tastes and they also offer 'lighter bite' versions of a number of their main menu options, which is an excellent idea. Our meals were all delicious - beautifully cooked and plentiful and the puddings are lovely and there is also a large choice of locally made Minghella's ice cream. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. If you are looking for a good pub meal then The Pointer is highly recommended although I would suggest booking because we visited on a Friday lunchtime and there were people waiting for tables... a sure sign of the pub's quality.

Had a family lunch here mid week. The menu is varied and caters for small appitites as well as large. The portions for a small meal were quite big so very impressed. It was all freshly cooked and delicious. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend this resturant and will be going back

When we discovered that part of our "easy cycling" route from Cowes to Sandown had been shut for bridge repairs, we almost gave up and headed back for Newport, but we persisted and pushed our bikes over the hills and almost stumbled on the Pointers Inn at Newchurch. What a great find. We had a lovely lunch in a covered outdoors part of the pub - we felt very welcomed and the food and drink was great. We also noticed that children were welcomed and catered for in a good way. We hope to return!

Great pub with excellent food - especially desserts (all homemade) - and superb service. Went with 2 small children and all looked after well.
