Great hike since we started by 8am - it was quiet. We only saw 9 hikers all the way to Ink Pots which is another 1.5 hours beyond Upper Falls. After 11am we saw 453 hikers on our decent!! Yes I counted! The falls are spectacular.

We only did the lower falls as it was cold and drizzling rain. The hike was easy and just breathtaking! It is usually more crowded in better weather.

What a beautiful place for a hike. There is a trail that leads up to the Johnston canyon water fall. You can either take the shorter trail to view an absolutely beautiful water fall pouring into a pool before running off or if in better shape proceed further up to the higher fall. I was impressed with the infrastructure that was built to hike up the trail. Super views all along the way. Make time to visit this place.

This 3 mile round trip hike was one of the best hikes we have taken. It is well worth going the Upper Falls. There is catwalk attached to the canyon wall for quite a distance which is quite different from most hikes. . The views are great and the walk into the cave to see the Lower Falls up close is fun. Get there early for parking or risk not doing the hike. The drive on Route 1A for the whole distance between Banff and Lake Louise is also worth it.

Set aside 3-4 hours to take this hike. You'll be accompanied by others on this trail, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to ask someone take a picture of your. You won't regret this hike!!
