Second time staying, was looking foward to three nights of beverages and chat. But on the first night one of the owners, male, was exceptionally hostile and intimidating and made us very uncomfortable forcing us to leave after only one night. Did not allow us any visitors after 8.30 despite it not stating this anywhere either online or on the sheet provided, harassing us twice in no more than 10 mins. No clear enforcement of his own rules. Will not be returning.

Dear 773Harrison

Thank you for your review which I found very helpful. Yes you are quite correct I was mistaken in stating that our long held policy, (to protect other campers), that 'visitors are not allowed except by prior arrangement' was on the help sheet handed to you on arrival and this will be corrected so that was a useful comment and airing on TripAdvisor will obviously highlight that policy so thank you for that. We are sorry you felt intimidated I didn't realise I could be seen as intimidating. However you must appreciate that after being advised of our policy on visitors, to then see another unbooked car and visitor arrive 10 minutes later at 8.30pm and begin to set up a BBQ proved that you had no regard for our site rules at all. You cannot have felt intimidated by my first visit at which point there were 5 in your group and 3 cars, having booked only 4 people and 2 cars, as you quite clearly had the full intention of allowing at least one further visitor to stay on our campsite. without my visits there would have been a minimum of 6 people and 4 cars on one pitch spread out across 2 pitches. Whilst your assurance on my first visit that there would be no excessive noise was appreciated, to then see a second uninvited car/visitor/BBQ set up so late in the evening did not fill us with confidence that your assurances would be adhered to, and obviously my first visit had not been sufficient for you to revise your actions, prompting my second visit. We have other campers to consider and want to ensure everyone has a peaceful and enjoyable stay at our lovely campsite, including yourselves, our actions are taken accordingly. As explained to you, we need to know exactly who is on our site at all times in case of emergency and can't just have unbooked visitors/cars wandering around the campsite using our facilities that campers have to pay for. When you did leave the site, wheel spinning your vehicle on gravel courtyard, covering our other visitors cars in dust was not appreciated by them in the slightest, even though some of your party found it very funny.

A beautiful, well kept little site. Generous pitch sizes but avoid number 14 as it slopes to an uncomfortable level. Dog friendly with ample exercising opportunities and 5 minutes away from forest walks. The village with post office, butchers (great BBQ selection), chemist, co-op (over priced) is but 5 minutes walk away. I would love to rate this a 5 star site but a couple of niggles, first the booking process wasn't easy, phone calls and emails were not answered and secondly the noise from the trains was unwelcome, particularly when the 2 am freight train thundered by. That said we will be back. A thank you to the the staff at the site for sorting out an initial problem and for maintaining the site and facilities to a high standard.

Thank you for your review. Our team does take great pride in keeping the site clean and tidy for all our visitors to enjoy and your acknowledgement of this is greatly appreciated. Unfortunately due to our rural location we do find our phone signal difficult at times but on these occasions guests generally use the online booking system which works well.
We hope to see you again soon.
Best regards
Lynn

Love staying at this tranquil little corner of the new forest. Lovely large pitches Caravan and Camping members only and ideally situated for the surrounding area. Train station minutes away, local food shop and great butchers.

Now for the downside. For those of us in the camping field who feel we have paid a nightly fee for a pitch, why is there a £10 per night charge if you wish to erect a small tarp, on the same pitch, using just a pole at each end with guy ropes? Surely if it is on the pitch already paid for then there should not be any extra cost. The pitches are large enough and do not become cluttered

Thank you for coming to visit us and the team will be pleased that you enjoyed your stay.
With regard to the charge for the extra tent like structure we appreciate that it is an extra cost but this is our policy on additional structures. You will appreciate that it is difficult to have exceptions to a composite policy and we find managing the site by adhering to specified policies enables all our visitors to be treated equally and fairly, we find this particular policy keeps the campsite from becoming overcrowded.
Best regards
Lynn

My girlfriend and I stayed at Rushcroft Farm over the first weekend in June. The site is well maintained and the staff are friendly. All expected amenities are close by including a few great pubs/places to eat. The real icing on the cake is the proximity of walking/cycling routes that lead to the plains of the forest.

I would highly recommend this site to anyone looking for a get away from city/town life. We will certainly be coming back here either this summer or the next.

Just got back from such an excellent stay at Rushcroft Farm. The site was beautifully kept and absolutely spotless. The wardens and owner Lynn were so welcoming and did their upmost to make our stay enjoyable - met all of our requests. The kids absolutely loved the green space to play in, and it was so kind of Lynn to let them feed the animals at the farm too. Handy having the train station so close by and just such a lovely part of the world to explore. Great trip for the family, but could also imagine coming here with friends in the future.

Thank you for your kind review. It is important to us the our visitors have an enjoyable time with us and we all work hard to those ends. So pleased the children enjoyed feeding the baby goats and you spent some lovely quality family time together exploring the New Forest area.
We will be happy to welcome you back anytime.
