We visited here for a quick pint and bar snack and was more than happy with the quality of food and service. The barman who took our order was especially patient with us considering we got our order mixed up ( The chap with specs ).
The beer garden with its kiddy play area was a god send that kept my grandson entertained whilst the adults enjoyed our pub lunch visit. Will visit again one day for a proper lunch.

Firstly I had booked on Saturday 2nd. August 2014 for 2pm. Sunday 3rd. August 2014 . When arrived our booking could not be found . We got seated and got drinks quite quickly . A waiter took our food order and went off .We then waited 1 hour for the starers to arrive and they would not have come then if we hadn`t called the waiter . The excuse for the delay was that the order had been lost .When the main course finally came it was virtually inedible . A lasagne was dry and the pork in a sweet and sour pork dish was stringy . Overall it was a complete disaster . Which was embarrassing for us because we had invited family to join us.

Just had a wonderful week in the New Forest area and we were so impressed with the Service, Quality and Quantity of the food served at this Family Friendly Pub / Restaurant, that we visited for a second time.
We were equally impressed with this second visit. On both occasions the Car Park was almost completely full, but we didn't have to wait an unduly long time for the food. All the food was freshly cooked, and the vegetables were in more than ample quantities and served in seperate Turin's (vegetable dishes).
We can thoroughly recommend this Pub / Restaurant, together with its Sister establishment called the Smugglers Inn at Milford on Sea nearby.

Stopped for an evening meal with the family on a busy sunny evening. The menu had everything we needed: kids menu, vegetarian menu, pub classics.

On ordering food we were told it would be a half hour wait, which didnt surprise us as they were clearly busy, so we had more time to catch the last of the suns rays before they disappeared behind the trees.

The food was classic pub home cooking, think country pub food rather than city gastro pub!

I have visited the Hare & Hounds several times, a couple of times in the bar area because we had the dog with us. The other times in the restaurant. Most of the visits have been most enjoyable, excellent food & good service. Sadly, our last visit, about month ago, wasn't so good. The service was unbelievably slow, the waitress seemed most disinterested. We waited about 45 minutes for our. Ealing, which was fine. But we were never once asked how the meal was, & nobody even offered a dessert menu. It was a very quiet day there, all we saw was this one disinterested who mostly ignored us, we were never offered a dessert menu, or asked if we would like a coffee. We had been there son long, without being paid any attention to, that we were quite glad to leave! What a shame, it had been so good before, a big disappointment!
