This nice lodge is located few km from Banff downtown in a very beautiful location, in to the nature and just in fromt of Rocky Mountains.
Staff is friendly and service is good.
We stayed in the premier king room, and it is quite big and very confortable. Bathroom is nice, and the wood burning stone fireplace is really beautiful.
Breakfast is good and the buffet is very rich.
The common areas and the gardens are very well mainteined and even deers love it!

We suggest this accomodation to people wat to spend lovely days in Banff.

My husband and I just got back from a weeks stay at the Buffalo Mountain Lodge it was lovely .We stayed in the Premium room and you felt as though you were in a private mountain cottage it was very quite and very clean. There seem to be Elk everywere and we were able to watch them on the balcony. We would definetly stay at the lodge again its very close to town but made you feel like you were in the woods.

The Buffalo Mountain Lodge was our ideal honeymoon location! We found a great deal online and when upon arrival it was just what we had thought it would be and more. We stayed on the second floor closest to Tunnel Mountain. I thought this would be a problem (road noise), but not at all! The train did wake us up the first night (but I think you could hear that throughout the whole town)! The beds were AMAZING, the bathroom looked recently updated and the fireplace was a great touch.
The food was amazing... 5 star, along with the staff. Canadians are so friendly! On the first morning my husband ate from the buffet and asked the waiter if the elk sausage was an option. The waiter said that it wasn't on the buffet but came out with it five minutes later, put the plate down and said "it sounded like you wanted to try the sausage, please enjoy!" We ate there every morning. We treated ourselves to dinner in the lodge and it was to die for. Three other nights we ate at Cilantro. Just as impressive. We would highly recommend the wood fired pizza.
We couldn't say enough about the Buffalo Mountain Lodge. We hope to go back as soon as we can!

The following review has no reflection on the lodge:
FYI to folks staying in the Banff National Park... you do have to pay a daily rate for being in the park. Even if your accommodations are in the park you still have to pay. This was an expense we didn't prepare for! Our travel agent didn't let us know....

My spouse and I spent about a week (7/23/11 - 7/29/11) in beautiful Banff, Alberta and stayed at the Buffalo Mountain Lodge for 6 nights in a 2 room suite with kitchenette and fireplace.
I did my research for this hotel and others of its kind through the internet and through various types of travel related review sites, so, I was impressed by the photos I viewed and the reviews given by other travelers. However, after living in hotel for about one good night and a day, I began to see its 'warts' and the photos I had viewed on the internet really did not match up to the room we were given. I really think it begins to how one secures or 'books' their original booking and I had 'booked' our room 6 months prior and via hotels.com. At any rate, I am not impressed anymore and consider this lodge or hotel 'average' and wish tripadvisor.com would allow 'half-ratings' as a 3 full circles for me is too much for Buffalo Mountain Lodge.

The reasons we are not quite happy are that on the second day of our vacation I noticed in the utensil drawer of the cabinet of the kitchenette was some fleas and umm, some worms or umm, some maggots in this drawer. I was completely repulsed by this and had to wash every utensil in the drawer. I could not believe that the cleaning service did not catch this MAJOR offense because they would be looking at this drawer and putting articles into it every day. No excuses - absolutely not! Fortunately for us, I checked other cabinets and did not find any evidence of wormy creatures anywhere else.

Reason #2 - Photos on the internet do not show the entire landscape of this lodge / hotel. So, ask, ask a lot of questions about your room before you plunk down any $$$ or a CC...because there are several different styles of lodgings that seem to be built at different times and therefore, some do not have patios &/or balconies. They are not all created equal.

I will say the hotel is in a great location and in a beautiful setting...even with a lot of its warts. And, the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. But, would we stay here again? Sadly, no. It did not meet our expectations for cleanliness and comfort.

My wife and I looked all over Banff to find the perfect spot to get married - we picked Buffalo Mountain Lodge. We loved the look, feel and amenities of this place and we are so glad we chose it. We and our families and friends all stayed at the Lodge and we held our ceremony across the street at the Reservoir. The views are breathtaking and it helped make our special day even more memorable.

The rooms and buildings are all done in a wood chalet style with each room having it's own fireplace with free firewood. What an amazing touch! The whole complex is amazingly beautiful and is a wonderful mountain retreat. We had our reception in the Strathcona room which was lovely and the food and staff were fantastic.

We loved our room (as did all of our family & friends) and the whole experience here was perfect. We feel that we could not have made a better choice for our wedding. We look forward to going back to enjoy this special place, and to re-live some of our wonderful memories here.

This place has a beautiful, quiet setting. The rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Nice decor. Our room was little smaller and darker then I would have preferred for the price I paid.

This was the first place we stayed in on our trip to Canada and felt that we had really chosen well. The room was very large with an amazingly comfortable bed. The bathroom was first class with everything you needed. The staff were all delightful and very courteous. We loved the buffet breakfast and we also had a good meal in both the Cilantro cafe and the hotel restaurant. Would have loved to use the fireplace but it wasn't cold enough! The only things we would have changed was the fact the room was quite dark and also the plastic chairs on the outside space didn't fit in with the rest of the setting.

Buffalo Mountain Lodge is a peaceful retreat on Tunnel Mountain in Banff, AB. The lodge is surrounded by 9 acres of towering fir, pine, and spruce trees, yet just a 15 minute walk or 3 minute drive from the shopping, nightlife and restaurants that are on offer in downtown Banff. A favourite visitor pastime is to observe the deer and elk who frequently nibble on the lawn, right outside the lodge's windows. The lodge has 108 guest rooms, an outdoor hot tub, and several options for dining, making it the ideal location for a weekend getaway, wedding, or corporate retreat. Buffalo Mountain Lodge is part of the Canadian Rocky Mountain Resorts' family of companies. Each room has been carefully decorated to reflect the mountain lifestyle in Banff-the accommodation is anything but 'cookie cutter.'
