“Great Service & Cosy Comforts”
Reviewed 30 July 2012

We stayed here for one night on our honeymoon - we found the customer service excellent (we did not have a reservation - just walked in). The rate was great value for money & the restaurant was very nice.
The staff took note of the fact that it was our honeymoon and left a note of congratulations and chocolates in our room.
The room was very cosy - with a open fireplace and beautiful wooden construction.
We would highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a romantic getaway and good value in Banff.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the road - we found that there was a bit of road noice in the room we staye...

On our honeymoon my husband and stayed in Lodge\Room 314 from 12\6\2012 - 14\6\2012

The staff was amazing and really helpful.

The lodge was lovely, it was so comfortable and clean. The bathroom was a wow. The hotel left us a lovely card and tasty presents.

The only negative was that the bedroom was a bit dark and the table\standing lights weren't that bright. But we out and about in the daytime so it wasnt a problem

The breakfast buffet was amazing - so much choice.

It was also nice be away from the centre of Banff so it was a lovely and relaxing

My boyfriend and I live in Calgary, but are from Ontario and stayed at Buffalo Mountain Lodge for Christmas! It was wonderful! The lobby was decorated and the cabins were amazing with their wood buring fireplaces, complimentary wood and wood interriors! The outdoor hot tub, open year round is salt water and very clean! This lodge allows pets which is amazing! There were a ton of dogs playing in the snow! The best part was having wildlife walk right by your cabin window! Christmas dinner was served in the main dining room and was a 5 course fixed menu meal, which we weren't expecting and every last crum was delish!
We loved this place so much we went back and stayed for my Birthday! Because we have a pet we are assigned an 'unrenovated' room, but it's still very very nice! The staff are very friendly and helpful, there are boardgames and movies to borrow at the front desk! I find the price per night is a great value for the cottage/cabin you get! The beds are beyond comfortable and the scenery is spectacular! There's the local bus that runs every 30 mins to downtown Banff or you can walk it in about 30 mins! Highly recommended!

We stayed two evenings at the lodge during Canada Day 2012 and the town was very busy and difficult to get from one side of town to another side. We rode the bus downtown to eat. The lodge staff was very friendly. Our rooms were OK, clean but small. Our room had a small deck to sit on in the evenings. The rustic units are very close together and sound really travels. The lodge caters to many weekend wedding receptions. Parking is at a premium and the wedding guests are quite boisterous. It was difficult to find a place to park our car. Most cars took up more than one space. We found that lodging and food were very expensive in Canada. On the plus, the scenery around the Banff area is very beautiful.

This is an attractively designed lodge hotel situated on the edge of Banff half way up Tunnel Mountain. There are good mountain views from parts of the hotel (though not our room), and the hotel is right next Banff Meadows which offers fantastic views. The rooms are in pleasant 2 and 3 storey blocks which are rather close together but have pretty garden areas in between. The lounge and dining areas are very pleasant with a kind of rustic ambience. The rooms ( we had standard ones) are very nicely furnished, clean and comfortable. The hotel is surrounded by other hotels and a residential area, so you are still part of Banff rather than being in a mountain lodge. We ate twice in the main restaurant and once at Cilantro's. The food was some of the best we had in Canada, though it is expensive (10-15$ for a starter, 30-40$ for mains). We also ate at their sister hotel, Deet Lodge, when in Lake Louise which was equally good, so I guess they're a good chain for dining. The only real negative for us was that we were woken in the early hours on 2 of our 3 nights by other guests who'd had rather a lot to drink. Even if guests are trying to be considerate we found that sound really travels between the rooms, the plumbing is amazingly noisy, and because the blocks are close together, you can hear more of your neighbours that you might want. Also, the hotel is a wedding venue. If you want to party, all this is fine, but if you want a good night's sleep it can be a problem.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay at Buffalo Mountain Lodge. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay but would like to apologize for the noise concerns during the evening. We do have many weddings on site, although we do also have security on nightly to monitor any excessive noise. We would like to encourage guests to bring any concerns such as these to our attention right away so we may improve your experience right away.

Lovely property with the outdoors brought in......I've stayed in two different rooms at this establishment.....the lodge room and the premiere room......the premiere rooms are, in my opinion, superior to the lodge rooms......I found the lodge room in need of an upgrade.....they were ok, but not what we were expecting, having initially stayed in a premiere room.....but I must say, the management did everything they could to accommodate us, even going as far as moving us to a different room that we were satisfied with......they even had a young man carry up a long flight of stairs a small fridge for our room.......you know, its not always how fancy a place is or how beautiful the surroundings are, although most of us rely on our first immpression......but when you have staff that go the extra mile to accommodate you and make you feel like they apprieciate your business, that also goes along way........the premiere rooms are gorgeous! Wonderfully decorated rooms, beautiful bedding and furniture, lovely log balconies ensconced within a mini forest....smells great! Too bad a person couldn't bottle a bit of that wonderful smell and market it! The fireplace is all ready to go.....they've tented it up with kindeling and wood....all you have to do is strike the match...YES.......its that easy, for those of us who have issues starting a fire....the bathroom is outstanding, from the old fashioned clawed bathtub, to the elegance of the entire space...they have an outdoor hot tub which is set up quite uniquely and has a fantastic view......the only down side to this property is two fold: I had issues with the wireless interenet connection, and there were quite a few stairs to climb in order to get to the room......ok if you don't have any luggage, but if you've got bags, then this was an issue......this property is pricey, but if you keep checking on their website, they have deals that make it quite resonable.....

When we walked into the room we were pleasantly surprised. Rustic wood, fireplace, claw footed bath tub, shower, balcony with an ok view. This was going to be great!

The only problems we encumbered were a toilet that splashed water from the tank onto the floorevery time you flush, and a bathroom sink that doesn't hold water when the drain is closed.

Overall it was a great experience, but for the price we paid - the bathroom was almost enough to complain about (but we're Canadian, so we let it slide).

Would definitely recommend.
