“Decent National Campsite”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2014 via mobile

My family and I (1 RV with myself, husband, and 3 kids + my inlaws and aunt in a motorhome) stayed overnight here for one night. Pro: Very quiet area, no loud campers and quite friendly staff. Con: stalls are narrow and the ones we rented (in the 500 block) were quite slanted so it was hard to level the trailers. I'd recommend the site to others though, but just as a place to stay while enjoying the town of Banff.

Stayed in this campsite for a long weekend fri 8th-mon 11th August and it was very beautiful and quiet. Location is superb all the lakes are nearby but defiantly driving distance and not walking distance. Plenty of good walks around campsite for hikers but Lake Louise is 58km from campsite so you'll need a car if you would like to visit there :) lots of wildlife about especially all the friendly red squirrels and elk! The campsite is quiet at night and there is a double bench with a BBQ tray in the campsite spots so you don't have to worry about taking deck chairs ! There all plenty of toilets with good warm showers that are all very close by. Overall a great stay and would recommend this campsite to anyone :)

Reserve early for this full hookup campsite, minutes away from downtown Banff. Every site is a pull through and some sites are more private than others. We choose an end site with lots of trees between us and the campsite above us on the higher level road. Lots of birds and squirrels and we had an elk wander through our site as well. The campsite is situated up the hill from downtown, a 5-10 min drive depending on traffic. We had brought our bikes thinking we could bike to town. I am a casual rider and wouldnt have made it up the long hill without pushing it for a long time. Husband biked it okay. Washrooms are very clean and the park was quiet. No firepits in this campground. Despite there being a campfire ban, we were allowed to use our propane firepit without purchasing a permit. To combat potential issues there is a full alcohol ban on possession over long weekends. Apparently Alberta provincial parks implemented this which pushed the partiers into this National Park, so this park then implemented the same rule. This warning was well signed but we didnt observe anyone checking. Although Im sure the rule is used to enforce any obvious violations. Overall a great campground.

Room Tip: When booking in advance, take the time to review the park map on the reservation site as every spot...

This a camp site that is well situated close to Banff but it misses some charm given that all campgrounds are on the 8 parallel roads which gives you the feeling of a parking. Enough space, easy to ride in and out, etc... But it misses some charm.

This camp site is smashing. Loads of space for the RV with full hook up. Not disturbed and was quiet. The bus to and from Banff is a definite must and excellent facility and parking an RV in Banff is a pain

The campground is conveniently located to Banff and the Trans-Canada Hwy. It consists of 8 parallel roads with sites off both sides of the road. All services are adjacent to the road, so those on the North side have to turn around to orientate the RV to the services. Interior roads are paved and in good condition.

Choose you site carefully, as they aren't all full service and some are double sites.

We were in 322, which was large enough for our 41' 5'er. Services we conveniently located and of good quality. This site has no access to satellite signals from a roof top dish, but some in row 100 should see the satellites.

The convenience to Banff and the Park is great, but being without Wi-Fi today is a challenge. If we return we will look at a Canadian hotspot.

We love coming to Tunnel Mountain every year! Its nice and close to the townsite of Banff! There are a couple bus stops right in the campsite, so you can hop on one and be in Banff within minutes! Or you can even walk down to town, its about a 15-20 minute walk!

The campsite is very clean! The shower/bathroom facilities are kept very clean! The shower house has 6 or 7 showers! I usually head there around 9 am and rarely have to wait for a shower!

You are surrounded by beautiful mountains, just pull out a lawn chair and enjoy! We love this campsite for the fact that its so close to everything, if you are looking to be surrounded by trees and have more of a true camping experience you might want to check out another campground, as you park on a paved road and have some trees around your site. Which works for us but might not be some peoples cup of tea if your looking for a more authentic in the woods type of camping. Also, some sites do have fire pits which is nice (for an additional charge) ! And the wood is free, which is nice not having to pay a fortune for wood bundles!

There's a program once or twice a week in the theatre, these are great for kids.

This is a perfect place to stay, keeps us coming back every year!
