Tired. Worn. College dorm gone bad. No AC, bad on an average day, torture on a hot summers night. Can't fault the staff - they have little to work with. The computer in the business center was one step beyond a Commodore 64 - and torturously slow. Having said that, hard to expect more on a busy night in Banff for $150. Everything's relative - I came away with no rashes or communicable diseases so all good.

I agree with many of the reviews I have read. This is an older facility in need of upgrading. One time we got on the elevator just when a tour group had arrived. The elevator was full and there were several people waiting on the bottom floor to use it. The elevator was very slow and did not operate properly, it kept returning to the bottom floor without stopping at the upper levels. At one time there were five tour buses loading in the very small driveway area blocking all but one small driveway entrance. Pluses... clean, nice staff, fair restaurant value. Minuses... old, no air conditioning and over-priced.

Room Tip: Ask to be on the same level as the parking (it varies because there are several levels) so you can a...

The place is huge. The common areas are somewhat dated but still OK. The indoor pool was fine, others enjoyed it too, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We didn't have time to check out the rooftop hot tub or the bus into town, using complimentary passes.
We started out with a reserved 2 double-bed room in the Swiss Village, a unit off to the side. It wasn't updated but was fine and clean, but they offered us an upgrade to a 2 queen bed room in the main B building, which was nicer for a nominal extra charge so we took it.
Pros: Spacious, updated room with comfy beds/bedding, a nice, big armchair, a large Samsung TV, 2 sinks, excellent, new bathtub for soaking; location is removed from the hustle and bustle of downtown Banff; covered parking spots (good for the winter)
Cons: Bit of a ways to the center of town
Overall: Would definitely come back; would be a good place for a ski vacation, too

This is definitely only a 2.5 star hotel, the rooms are older, bathrooms are small and dingy (blow dryer didn't even work) and no air conditioning in the rooms. However the room was clean, beds were comfortable and the staff were nice. I did my research prior to booking this so I knew what we were going to get so I wasn't surprised or disappointed. This was the cheapest hotel for the weekend and you get what you pay for so no complaints on my end.

Stayed at the hotel between July 3rd & 5th 2014. Upon checkin, we discovered the room did not have air conditioning even though the temperature outside soared to +31celcius that day. A small desk fan was available and also the door to the "balcony" could be opened. The cement floor balcony was warped and sloped so bad that we didnt feel safe standing out there. Also, the walls between each balcony was so short that anyone would be able to climb onto your balcony. Asked front desk for room with a/c. Told there was none. Contacted Banff Lodging Company and they had the front desk move us to a handicap room with 4 queen size beds and 2 air conditioners. At a rate of just under $600 for 2 nights! In the room switch, we accidentally left our camera in the first room, not realizing until we checked out. The hotel claims that their housekeeping checked the room but we believe it wasnt cleaned thoroughly and the guests checked in after us found our camera and kept it. Very unfortunate because our 3 year old has non verbal autism and this is the camera we used to print communication pictures for him. In the 2nd room, the air conditioner leaked so bad that water was running all over the couch. Maintenance was in our room at 11pm to clean the filter. This did nothing. Next morning I told front desk and they sent maintenance in while we were out. They claimed it wasnt leaking even though there was a soaked towel underneath of it. There is no breakfast included. The pool is in rough shape and has puddles of cold water all over the deck area. Overall, would never stay here again or recommend this hotel to anyone!

We appreciate your feedback about your recent stay. You are correct that our maintenance attendant was not able to find anything wrong with the unit. Additionally, I sent the Maintenance Manager to the room to inspect the unit. After running the A/C for 4 hours he also could not detect any leaks or issues.

This hotel is old and needs work. the pool is disgusting didn't even want to go in. We stayed here in July and it was hot, the hotel doesn't have AC and when we asked for another fan they said they didn't have any. Will never stay here again very displeased!!!

We happen to spot a discount on this hotel on Expedia hence selected, as we were really in a rush to book a room for a night in Banff. It seemed to be quite far from the center, so it would always make us drive if we wanted to go out for a meal or walk. We arrived around 11 am and were unpleasantly surprised by being informed that check in is after 4 pm! We did not want to pay extra to upgrade our stay to a more fancy room which was available at that hour, so had nothing left but go and do the sightseeing for the day first before checking in. The hotel area is large as they have multiple buildings. As we went for the standard room, there was no grand view, just some some bushes outside the balcony. The amenities were good though, the room was spacious and well equipped. No breakfast served was also a bit of dissapointment. The service was quite good.
