“Wonderful vacation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 July 2007

After a long drive and unfriendly Park entrance people the staff here were refreshing. Adrian gave great info and was very polite and professional.

This was a wonderful vacation and your hotel was the "icing on the cake" We will return here as soon as possible and tell our friends about your hotel.

No air in room. Bugs came in thru hole in screen. No overhang on patio so rains into room. Dark rooms, LOW Popcorn Ceiling everywhere, impossible floor plan made it difficult to find rooms. Carpet seemed filthy so we left our shoes on. Room service dishes sat in hallway all night and most of the morning. Yuk!

Hotel was old and in need of a major renovation. Room was very dark and the carpet was so dirty we kept our shoes on at all times. I suppose it was okay for an overnight stay since the bed and bathroom were at least clean, but I won't be staying here again.

Stayed here for 2 nights as part of a tour group. Room o.k., clean, big enough, well-furnished etc. but very dark - only natural light was from a small window situated at one end overshadowed by a tiny, viewless and thus pretty pointless balcony -cum fire escape.
Maid service did not turn up until the early afternoon of the 2nd day there but was polite enough to wait until we had gone out again just before 1pm before returning to do what she needed to do.
10 mins. from centre of town but as transit bus No.1 stops right outside and we have a free 2-day pass for it provided this was not a huge issue.
Road, landscaping and development works do not show Banff off at its best but this is, of course, only temporary.
Ate at Typhoon asian fusion style restaurant (in town) on our first night and at a diner situated behind the petrol station directly opposite Inns of Banff on our second. Both acceptable meals for the price and latter offered unlimited salad bar too which makes a nice change from chips/fries and rice all the time.

  • Liked — indoor swimming pool and whirlpool hot tub
  • Disliked — lack of natural light in the bedroom

Just stayed one night in a 2 bedroom condo. Lots of space, well stocked kitchen & very comfy beds. Bathrooms could use an upgrade. We loved the Rocky Mountain Soap! Nice touch. I agree that its a bit worn & could use a coat of paint & some new floors, tiles, curtains....but all in all it was excellent value. Lots of coming & going in the parking lot outside our windows so it was a bit noisy throughout the night. Hard to escape this problem in Banff though. All the staff were very courteous & helpful. A great spot for families or groups that don't want to rent 2 or 3 rooms.

  • Liked — helpful staff
  • Disliked — needs to be fixed up (paint, curtains mainly)

This was our first long haul holiday. The flight was 9 hours long but it was worth it.
Banff town is lovely, and no matter where you are standing, you have brilliant views of steep snow covered mountains. The place is really clean and everyone is very polite.
The Hotel Inns of Banff was very pleasant. I was a little worried as i had read other reviews about this Hotel which were not very nice.
We are a big family of 3 teenagers and a 10 year old so we stayed in one of the hotels self catering condo's. It was really big. It had two bedrooms (one ensuite) a family bathroom, kitchen dinning area and lounge. The lounge had two big pull out double beds and another 2 seater sofa and also it had a wide screen tv.
I suppose the hotel could do with a bit of a revamp, it does look a bit tired in places, but overall we felt it was good.
The pools are nice but beware the indoor jaccuzi is boiling hot, my kids came out with heat rashes.
The great thing about the location of this hotel is that it is the first place the ski bus comes to, so you are garunteed to get on. Its also the first stop when coming back from the mountains, so this gives you a bit of extra time to get a few beers in in the bears den pub in the hotel. Very nice comfy pub with friendly staff.
Right opposite the hotel is bumpers restaraunt wHich we found very niCe. Great salad bar.
It only takes 15-20 mins to walk into town from here but the bus service is very good.
We ate out almost every night and found it to be quite cheap. An average bill for the 6 of us was around 70-80 pounds. Mind you no starters and no puddings. The kids all had cokes or pop, and what helps to keep the price down is the fact that the kids all get free refills. Me and hubby would just have a couple of beers.
We did try the restaraunt in the hotel but we didnt rate it very high. We found the service to be slow and the food not too good. In general we were not happy with the food as it all seemed to steak steak and more steak or burgers burgers and more burgers. However we did find a chinese (only one mind, so booking is a good idea) wich was very nice. We also found a little Italian restaraunt which i was the only one who liked. And there is a place called the the spaggetti factory, which was very nice.
The tipping thing is rather annying in this country. Expect to leave anything from 10% that includes bar staff.
We found it quite rude when paying for some drinks the waitress asked '
how much of the change do you want back?' but this is how they work and they dont think they are being rude.
Aside from this I would definately go back.
And I would go back to the same hotel.
Do i need to mention the snow and skiing?
JUST FANTASTIC.

What a fantastic place! Our stay at Inns of Banff was superb before we even got there. The prompt communication, flexibility and willingness of the GM Glen Dressler and his staff was wonderful. Upon checking in we were warmly welcomed and assured that they would accomodate any needs we had - and they did!
The variety of rooms (all with incredible views) really worked for our group of 29 people--regular hotel rooms, 2 & 4 bdrm condos and then, the piece de resistance - the Executive Cottage! It was so incredibly perfect for our base of party operations. A very spacious (2400 sq ft) 4-bedroom, 3 bath house with a huge kitchen and living area, a play room downstairs with foosball, air hockey and a large screen TV/VCR/DVD, large fireplace and stunning views. All this for an incredibly low price and no charges for any extras...The staff supplied us with 30 sets of plates, cups & flatware for our entire visit and we enjoyed full group dinners there three of the nights. They also brought extra firewood, extention cords, extra coffee, racks of wine glasses - anything we thought of was delivered promptly. Chef in the restaurant even happily loaned us one of his sharp knives!
The location is great - on the quiet end of the main drag, but just a few short blocks to all the action.
The whole hotel is extremely clean, there are shuttles to everywhere and the staff is so cheery and upbeat that you can't help smiling all the time!
The entire visit was a total pleasure. It made our big birthday celebration a complete blast and I highly recommend it.
Thank you Glen and crew!!!
