“Good for what we paid”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 August 2007

We found our stay here quite pleasant. On arrival we upgraded our room to one with mountain views, this was a good choice. The balcony door was frozen shut most of the time, but that wasn't a problem as we didn't want to be out there in -15 anyway.

Overall we found the staff helpful and had no issue for complaint. The bar was open every night and was quite relaxing to sit in. The outdoor hot tub was lovely and cosy .

The ski bus stops on the driveway and very often due to the volume getting on here goes straight to the mountain. The return trip is excellent also as this is one of the first stops.

Their is a garage opposite which sells most things, including Pizza in the evening, milk etc. Also there is an off-license two minutes walk away.

For what it cost we would come back here again.

Was looking for a good value through Priceline and booked this hotel for $220 for a one night stay August 20, 2007. I knew the location of the hotel from a recent trip and the deal sounded ok. I should have read reviews on trip advisor prior to booking.

Upon arrival my wife and I were talked into a $30 upgrade to a view room, which sounded like an ok deal so we took it. Our impression of the staff at the hotel was good, but the bar was closed (told they were understaffed) and it was clear some of the young staff was working 15 hour days just to keep this place open.

We got to our room and the first impression was ok, then we noticed dirty floors. The patio was chipping apart and there was garbage on the patio as well. Then we noticed that there were stains on four of the pillows on our bed, a call to the front desk sent new pillowcases up promptly (with stains on them too). Stains on the towels (and holes) left much to be desired with what was now a $250 night stay. A coffee cup in the room was dirty from a previous guest (or a bad wash) and was smeared with an unidentifiable brown goo. Yuk.

There were no pool towels available as promised, there were stains and splatter marks on the walls in the room. This place was NOT worth the money and left us very sad. We thought that this was going to be the nicest stay of our trip and it certainly was not. We filled out a comment card at the hotel and plan to follow up with a letter to the hotel management company as well.

Save yourself a heartache (and an ache in your wallet) and do not stay here.

  • Liked — That it was in Banff, staff was friendly.
  • Disliked — Horrible condition - tired hotel, dirty, dirty, dirty!

Our stay started badly. Having been allocated a room, we found that it had not been prepared after the last guest, and was left with used towels, waste etc. Complaining, we were asked to allow them an hour to prepare the room. We refused on the basis that having spent a day on the road, we wanted to shower and change immediately. We made clear it was their responsibility to find a suitable replacement immediately.

To be fair, and within 15 minutes, we got upgraded to a really nice quad room with a balcony and a great mountain view. Room was clean and comfortable, but incredibly hot. We were surprised that there was no air conditioning and we had to ask for fans to try and cool the room. These were provided but the heat persisted despite the cooling breezez and overall it was not the most pleasant experience of our vacation. This was a shame since the Inn is clearly on the luxury edge of the market and quite expensive even at Banff prices.

Overall, a disappointing stay, even allowing a room upgrade and good quality beds, room furnishings etc. Hotel has several pools and restaurants. At these prices, airconditioning is a must for the summer months.

Just at the end of Banff avenue and just a short walk to down town Banff. I like this location as it was quiet, the hotel was clean and the rroms are clean. We upgraded out room to a mountain view and the balcony was massive with brilliant Mountain views. Good value for money and the breakfast in the morning was good too

Hotel was very worn looking. Needs a major facelift. For July it was very warm and the hotel does not hace air conditioning. The room was extremely hot. I was eaten alive by mesquitos while in the lobby accessing the internet which I was told I could access in my room. Not worth the $200+ per night we paid. Other places in town were a much better value for the same money. Would not recommend this hotel.

Rooms were unkept, hall traffic is unbearable, they have no airconditiong in the hotel and in July it is miserable. We opened windows for some relief only to hear laundry tubs crash into walls half the night. At six am laundry trucks pull in with back-up alarms sounding and doors and ramps slamming around. As soon as they left a bus backed in under our room and idled with deisel smoke pouring in. Never, ever would I make this mistake again!

We stayed at the Inns of Banff July 16th and 17th. The hotel is one of the older hotels. Our room was quite large and clean and had a private balcony. We did not have AC and the weather was in the 90's. Ceiling fans would greatly improve the comfort of the rooms in the summer months.

We found out during our stay that for the price we paid we could have stayed at one of the much newer hotels that of course all had air conditioning. We would suggest that anyone looking to stay in Banff check out the newer hotels as they are very beautiful and the same price or lower than what we paid at the Inns of Banff.

The hotel restaurant is very average. The service was quite slow and the food was just ok.

If we ever come back to Banff we would not stay at this hotel.
