This hotel is the second one that I stayed in my trip across Canada and will record that it was pretty fine in every way, I recall on arriving that my impression of the main reception area was that of a ski lodge of the 1950's and 1960's film set and to be honest I felt that Elvis Presley or Grace Kelly would come walking by at any moment. The hotel's position in town is great and pretty close to all the shops and the river. My room was of extremely sizeable proportions, containing two large double beds and all the usual conveniences of a good hotel (in fact my records show that this room was ,in fact, super-size. I suppose this is to allow patrons to walk around in the room with their ski's on,during the winter season. The buffet breakfast was very good and I had reports that the restaurant on the ground floor was superb. The room cleaning staff were brilliant, ensuring that everything was polished, cleaned and refilled prior to our return from a hard days holidaying. The reception staff & restaurant staff carried out their work in a pleasant and courteous manner and I am unable to find any criticism in this regard. A small winge on my part is that the rooms need to be upgraded in the near future, however if that is my only complaint then this hotel suits the traveller just fine

Great location. Walking distance to the main strip, but away from the loud noise. Hotel was clean, staff was friendly. Location was great. Pool was updated and not very busy. It had a very spa feeling to it. Steam room was nice, especially after a day on the mountain. Another plus is that we had a balcony. Would definately stay here again. Can't beat the price for what you get in my opinion. Downside was having to pay for parking although, they let us keep our car parked there after we had checked out.

He stayed at Banff Logde Resort for one night!

pros: very close from the town center(in a short distance you can find places to eat and to shop),the room was clean and spacious, the staff was friendly to help you,the pool was nice and was newly renovated(I remember that I spent at least two hours relaxing in the pool!!,)in overall the price was fair enough!

cons: you have to pay extra for breakfast and parking plus for internet connection if you need,

I would recommend this hotel! Good value to downtown Banff!

The Banff Park Lodge would usually be out of our price range but we caught a last-minute online room sale that dropped it into our price range for Banff (under $130-180/night) and thought we'd try out a higher end hotel in Banff.

We stayed here for two nights in early August 2011 on the tail end of a mountain holiday.
The room was large, but dated (being in Banff, you expect dated hotel rooms -- so not much you can do about it). Lots of room for our infant son's playpen and toys. The king bed was comfortable.

The location is tremendous. The hotel is on a quiet sidestreet one block from Banff Avenue and is close to the river as well. You're as close to high-traffic and noise of Banff Avenue as you could possibly be without actually being affected by it.

One evening, we ordered room service from the downstairs restaurant. Nothing special about the meal. Seemed pricey for what arrived on our plates, but that was somewhat expected at one of Banff's higher-end hotels.

The wireless internet costs $10 for a 24-hour period. The underground parking costs $9.50/day. Not saying either charge is good or bad, but some people may not be willing to pay for those extras, especially wireless internet which is typically free (or, at least, hidden in the room price) at most hotels nowadays. The underground parking was worth it, in my mind. Especially given the location of the hotel a two-minute walk to the heart of Banff and the usual hassle of finding parking.

No continental breakfast was a huge minus for us. Mind you, it was something we knew when we booked. But, the convenience of a free breakfast right in your hotel can't be understated.

Last time in Banff, we stayed at the Aspen Lodge, which is a little bit further of a walk from the tourist section of Banff Avenue. Based on our experiences at each hotel, we'll likely return to the Aspen Lodge because it seemed to be better value for (less of) our money -- free parking, free breakfast, free internet, more affordable room rates.

The Banff Park Lodge is two short blocks off the main Banff Avenue, and right on the Bow River. It has the best multi use pool-spa area in Banff (the best spa will always be at the Fairmont Banff Springs) -- it has a pool, medium hot pool and hot pool, plus a glorious steam spa. They do not have spa services. Their gym equipment is just okay. We have stayed many times and in all sorts of their rooms -- regular, family and recently a family suite. The restaurant is recently renovated. The best food comes out for their dinner or Sunday buffets and they are at a great price point. The Bow View is their hotel right behind them. Stay at the Bow View and get access to all the amenities of the Banff Park Lodge. It too is also a great hotel. Both are clean - you will never be disappointed by this. And both are relatively quiet, meaning you can hear others like all hotels, but it is not so noisy anything keeps you up or wakes you up. Watch for deals directly on their website. Often it is cheaper going direct. And stay there a couple of times and they'll give you deals. This is finally a hotel that apparently has a database. They also seem to keep staff -- not normal for other Banff hotels. If you stay at the Bow View, outdoor parking is free.

The rooms were very big, very nicely furnished, and had a great view outside. Right from the moment we arrived the staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel has incredible amenities! The pool/gym are was newly renovated so we spent a lot of time in the hot tubs, pool, and steam room after skiing. The restaurant is very modern and the food was great. Shuttle comes throughout the day right to the hotel's front doors to take guests straight to the mountains so we really appreciated that. Everything from shops, to restaurants, to a beautiful lake to skate on are within minutes of the hotel which was convenient. We were a large group of people that went together and we all had an incredible experience at the hotel. I've been to Banff many times and this had to be one of the best hotel experiences I've had. The hotel is beautiful, guest friendly, and the room prices were just right! Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!! We highly recommend it and will be staying there again when we go back!!
