Looking out our window onto Lake Louise was a wonderful way to wake up every morning. The Fairmont Banff was my Lovely wife's dream for our wedding anniversary and it was one I was determined to make come true. Not an easy one as it turned out but worth the effort. What a place. What can I say about this place that has not already been said. Just this. Go! Make your dreams come true. We were really looked after and the views well, as I said, magnificent.

Having booked for New Years Eve almost 12 months in advance for that once in a lifetime trip I wanted NYE to be the pinnacle of our trip. My booking was changed to the romance package on advisement from reservations. To the hotels defense an upgraded room was rewarded. However I paid over $1000 for a night including an a la carte meal for two and dinner dance. On arrival we were disappointed to find our reservation for dinner was mysteriously lost. Told I would have to pay another $200 to eat at ball. No we could not go to any other restaurant and as a good will gesture allowed to eat buffet in family restaurant and not pay extra. Our package was supposed to include gourmet meal. Most unhappy and uncomfortable for our romance package to be all dressed up with kids running around and loud and noisy. Formal dance - fantastic , however wondered why we had to give all our details of age etc when we arrived told to go in and find a table of people not eating and just sit. The photo organized wasn't! The time we went for our formal photo could only be in late afternoon before we got ready to
go out. Also hotel somehow forgot to book this. Next morning for breakfast after NYE my husband and I attended Dining room as part of our package at 10:45 am and were told too late as they had an early brunch on. Told to order room service. When we tried to order room service only allowed one breakfast order each. No Danish or fruit or we would be charged xtra even though we were told to do so and had a buffet breakfast as part of our package On leaving I did contact management to voice my concerns and have been adequately addressed. However now we are home in Australia I still feel very disappointed on what was supposed to be a dream event - wasn't. My advice is. Have everything copied and reservations copied as I was not believed by the conseirge even with the extreme price I paid on the booking of our package.

Having lived away from the UK for a while, to be in a stone built building was fabulous. What a building, what service and what choice of places to eat. I would recommend Grapes up in the medieval area as it was lovely and quiet and cosy. We also enjoyed gate crashing Alberta Tourism's holiday party and being in the outdoor hot pool while it is snowing is a once in a life time experience. Great gym and pool as well. The parking is a bit far away but the guys out the front have a slick system to make it as easy as possible.

Room Tip: There are many options in different wings, floors etc...so have a good look through the options and...

Thank you for visiting from Saskatoon. We are pleased that you enjoyed the dining experience in Grapes, and the winter pool experience. The Fairmont Banff Springs is styled after a scottish baronial castle and has many european influences. It is nice to hear you enjoyed it very much!

Just arriving at this hotel is an experience. I knew it was supposed to look like a castle. But it is a castle. The service was fabulous. Easy transportation. Amazing views. Great ice skating on the property with a consistent bonfire. Fabulous indoor pool with an outdoor heated option. What a fabulous place!

We had an amazing trip to the Fairmont Banff Springs. Being semi-local, this is the first time we actually splurged and stayed at 'the castle.'. Right from the moment of arrival, I was floored at how every process was streamlined and the exquisite attention to detail. We stayed on the Escape to Willow Stream package, which is excellent value if looking to stay at a high end hotel with a trip to the spa. I tried pricing things out individually (and using the less expensive Banff Townsite spa), and it still worked out to be cheaper to do the package. As a bonus, a full buffet breakfast (pretty much their legendary brunch buffet but without the dessert section), self-parking and all gratuities were included.

Check-in was easy. We pulled up in our car, they greeted us by name, gave us our keys, took our bags, gave us detailed directions to our room after parking the car all before we even got out of the vehicle. Our room (a mountain view Suite in the main building) had a breathtaking view (coming from someone who lives by the Rockies). The concierge arranged all our dinner reservations and activities for us, although truthfully we could have been happy for our 2 night stay being entertained with the on-property amenities. There is a ton to do.

The spa was fantastic (separate review forthcoming) - and we did not have a single interaction with a staff member anywhere in the hotel which was anything less than excellent. Check-out was also efficient and before we knew it, our short trip to the rockies was over.

After thinking long and hard, the only less than positive thing we could even mention was that the duvets were fairly thin for the winter season. (You can tell we're digging deep for something to balance the review). That was rectified in about four minutes with a call to Royal Service.

This was an amazing, even magical, stay from start to finish. It's going to be tough next time deciding between a Gold Floor room, or a suite with the deluxe view. Either way, I know we'll be back.

Room Tip: Any room with the Bow Valley view is worth the extra money.

FANTASIC, was our recent Christmas experience at the Castle and this word really doesn't emulate fully our 6 day stay. For those who have stayed here for Christmas, you undertsand our sediment, but for those whom haven't, then unless you stay here you are doing yourself a diservice.
The Castle location, history, architecture, character and the people make this a truly memorable life experience. The staff whom work at the Castle, make the culture and feeling so friendly, comfortable and like home. This was our 2nd visit to Banff within 2 years and whilst is was hard to believe we would enjoy more than last time, we did.
This time our visit was made all the more incredible by the Guest Relations Manager and VIP Conciege Mr Don Mooney, whom was the most friendly, informative, interested, professional hotel hospitality person we have ever encounted. Don is in fact the most genuine guy, whom truly cares for his guests , loves Fairmont and is so loyal to the organisation and what it stands for, providing the best service possible to its guests and endearing life long memories.
We booked a 2 bedroom suite to accomodate our family and because we stayed longer we qualified for a long stay reduction in the tarrif which is a great deal Banff Springs offers. The room was truly magnificant with great views down the valley.Rooms 309, 311, 313 are the best rooms to obtain at this level and Don assited me, following my requests to facilitate this lovely outlook.
The rooms were very clean and fitted out with lovely period furniture and the most lovely antique desk/ hatch which was a feature of the room. The 3 tv's enable my family to chill out in different rooms and provided the feel of Banff being our home away from home. We consider the castle and Banff to be that , when we are not here in Australia. Francisco, our room service person was excellent and he made fantastic animal shapes out of the towels , which really impressed us, even in particular our 2 teenage children.
Don had arranged for us to frequent the Gold lounge as a special previlage and the Castle Gold lounge is an experience and if you get the chance you really should enjoy. It was spacious, great food, good selection of wines and lovely fire. The Gold lounges we experienced in Hotel Vancouver, & Lake Louise were also great, but Banff was probably just ahead and Alex is doing a great job managing this truly unique facility. Thanks Don for your arrangement and Alex for your hospitaility.
Don the ever so generous man, also facilited the family enjoying breakfast in the Bow Valley grill, which had the most unbeliveable buffet and variety of food. The food was mouth watering and plentiful. Our waiter at the Boxing Day Brunch, Barrie even sourced egg nogg for us, which was not on the menu and for this, his great happy demeanour and general service we were truly grateful. The menu and food choice for this special occasion was excellent and beyond reproach. Ron whom manages the catering at the hotel and his team should be congradulated for this , not to mention the Albert Room Christmas Day brunch which was to die for.We spent 2.5 enjoyable hours eating the most delightful and varied foof & drink. The staff even arranged to change the drink menu for us to include champagne which was not originally proposed.Maybe Aussi's find these occassions call for the champagne and would encourage Ron to consider this for Christmas Day every year.
There is so much to do at the Castle you barely have to leave and as you feel so safe there, we were so comfortable with letting our kids do their own thing and meeting us somewhere, usually in the Rundle lounge where the pizzas are very nice and the cocktails enjoyable.
The outdoor pool is great and warm enough to be outside whilst it is snowing. A great experience especially for those of us, whom never see snow at home.
We received a great tip from our wilderness guide and activities manager , following our request for a recommendation for a resturant in town and the GREEK Baveria was not a disappointment. Excellent food and reasonably priced.Good atmosphere.
Christmas at the Castle is my strong recommendation to all of you and make sure you mark it off your bucket list. The activities are great and again we loved the Ginger Bread House decorating .Even in the evening, the Bingo was a good family activity.
We walked into town each morning to assist in wearing off the truly beautiful castle food and it only took 15 mins and was a very pleasant walk, with great scenery along the way.Great coffee at Evelyns .
The Gondola is also not far away, nor the Cave & Basin and these were great experiences and worth exploring.
So do yourself a favour and ensure you and your family visit the Castle and enjoy a magnificient experience you will cherish forever and make you want to keep coming back. We love it and even though a little ways from Ballina, NSW, Australia we will be back again soon and i encourage you all to do the same.
If you get the chance look up Don, if you need anything, just want a friendly chat, information and the like.He is great with kids and listens and connects well.We have photos with Don, which will always remind us of his warmth, welcoming attitude and the efforts he went to for us. It was also good to catch up with Edward Rue again, the previous manager at Fairmont Empress in Victoria, now the Boss here.
Thanks Fairmont Banff Springs, until next time.

I always dreamed of staying here since I was a little girl and I finally got to for my 1 year wedding anniversary! We arrived the coldest week. Dec 4th and stayed two nights. Since it was -36c outside we stayed to the castle pretty much the whole time. We did the email checkin 2 hours before we arrived. So when we got there we pulled up to the Valet and they were waiting for us, our room was ready! They took our truck and straight to our room we went! We had a Junior Suite with the Bowvalley view! Oh-MY-Gosh breath taking! We unpacked. We also brought our Chihuahua and was provided a dish, gingerbread cookie and potty bags and hiking trail map to take your pups! We arrived just before Christmas and the Castle was decorated so nice! We were booked in for dinner reservation at the Waldhaus Restaurant, I had previously booked this 3 weeks prior. We took the path to walk there... it was hike down the bake of the hotel, would have been perfect for the summer and not wearing heels for dinner. Ladies call for the shuttle it is free!! We arrived at 6:30pm and we were the only ones there for dinner!!! The Pub was downstairs and it was packed due to a convention. We had the best service in front of the fireplace and beautiful elk mount. My Husband and myself loved our dinner it was amazing!! We were too full for desert has we had started with an appie of fondue!. We finished two bottles of wine and had the shuttle pick us up to return us back to the hotel. We then walked around and looked in shops and enjoyed drinks at the Rundle. After a few drinks we went to our Room and ordered Room service 3 orders of deserts for our Anniversary! The best was the banana pudding! In our Pajamas at this point we wanted more drinks and we went back to the rundle for more! So much fun! The next day we woke up and decided to explore banff a bit. We made it back to do the the tour of the castle at 3. We pre-drank at the Rundle and did the tour! The tour was awesome, so much Canadian History and amusing aswell. Fun facts of the amazing area and talked a lil about the ghost stories!! Also the Guide is the second longest employee from the Hotel he wears a kilt and is Jamaican! Awesome! After the tour we hit the Rundle again for a few hours, good company and good drinks when its frozen outside and our Bartender Lindsay from Australia entertained us well! We experienced the Golf Simulator and booked for the Bowling at 10pm but I didn't make it.... All and all even though it was too cold to do outside activities it was awesome to be in a castle, with the million dollar view! The breakfast Buffet was great lots of variety. I felt like a princess with my prince there that was for-sure! My dreams from Childhood were fulfilled and I cant wait for another anniversary to go back again one day!
