“Wow!!”
Reviewed 11 July 2014

I spent one night here with my boyfriend on the Fairmont Gold floor, and i wish it was longer. From pulling up the driveway, to the personalized check in, to the champagne and chocolates in the room with music playing, it was a specactular experience. We were greeted in the lobby by someone named Max, who took our bags right to our room while we checked in, he even hung up my jacket! I saw Max the next morning, and he remembered who we were. I know he probably meets alot of people so that was very impressive. The Fairmont Gold staff were very helpful in planning our short time in Banff, and the maps they had were very useful. the breakfast that is included with the Fairmont Gold was sooo good! it was buffet style, with indian food, which was unusual but delicious. The lovely lady bringing around coffee was also very nice and talked to us abou our trip and what we have seen so far. The bed was heavenly, and the view of the mountains and river looked like a postcard. My one and only complaint was that when i checked out, i noticed we were charged $18 for two drinks, although we never bought any drinks. The concierge informed me it was a mistake, and that the drinks for room 516 had got charged to our room 519. However, that $18 never came off my credit card. No big deal though, the service and views made up for it. Thanks again, and hopefulyl next time it will be a longer stay!

Fairmont Banff was our first stop on our Canadian Rockies trip. We really enjoyed this hotel. It is a larger resort than what we typically choose for our trips, but we decided to stay for 2 nights. Service here was excellent, staff were always happy to help, whether it was valet, check-in or the restaurants. Concierge was exceptional and SO helpful with all of our questions. It is definitely a crowded place so expect a lot of people, but we were always able to get reservations and tables at the lounge etc. The location is great, slightly away from town, but close enough, with great hikes and other sites to see in the area. The heated pool was great after a long day of hiking!

The only thing I would say is that the room was VERY small. We did have a great view but it was through a small window and there was no balcony. I know the property is very old though so it might be part of it's history. I can't remember what category room I booked, but if I did it again I would definitely pay the money to upgrade to a suite or a larger room.

Overall we enjoyed our stay in Banff and thought the Fairmont Banff was a great spot to stay for a few nights during our trip.

Room Tip: The standard rooms with mountain view are small. Consider upgrading to a suite if you want more spac...

We stayed in the Stanley Thomson suite for 3 nights. It is fairly expensive, but the service, facilities, restaurants, views and activities were well worth it. The suite was large, but the master bedroom was pretty small. The bed was very comfortable. The furniture was a little dated, which I understand is the style of the hotel, but the drawers for the dresser in the bedroom nearly came off and I had to be careful putting it back. My only complaints would be the charges for parking (self) and resort fee. For the price you pay, these should be included. We had dinner in several restaurants. The Italian was fair. The Indian was excellent, as was the lunch we had on the terrace overlooking the mountains. We also went bowling and swam in the pool. Great activities for kids as well. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Located in the heart of Banff National Park Fairmont Banff Springs hotel stands as a landmark in the picturesque town of Banff, Canada's "Castle in the Rockies",
The Hotel celebrated 126 years and opened in 1888 this hotel was one of the candaian railroad hotels. It is styled after a Scottish Castle and is set overlooking the scenic Bow River rapids and Valley.
We only got to stay one night at this hotel and wish we could have spent more time in Banff and the hotel.
Room was well kept beds were comfortable and lots of feather pillows. We had AC in this hotel and room with veiw over looking the river. Grounds were lovely and well kept.
We had breakfast at selfserve cafe down stairs. It was ok but no hot foods.
We did get to vist the Hoodo’s, the Banff Gondola and over look the bow river rapids.
It was a 10 cab ride to down town, The Hot springs are just down from this hotel as well.

Staying at this iconic property during a meet and ski trip was a pleasure. The service and location is excellent, food and bar are cozy and fun and the location to the town is a perfect walk without being in town

Me and my family were part of a tour that stayed at the hotel, there were about 17 of us so we had 8 rooms. We had reserved rooms in the same class, but as this is a historic property this could mean your room is massive or extremely small. The hotel is beautiful and staff tries to do the best they can, but most employees in the summer are college students or recent college grads working part time. The issue was that my brother and sister-in-law were given a room that needed 2 elevators to get to, was half the size of mine, and nowhere near the rest of the family. On top of that, the 2nd elevator needed was small and made my sister-in-law uncomfortable so she had to take the stairs for the 2nd part of the trip. I realize that the hotel is extremely busy and nothing can be done about this so I switched rooms with my brother and sister-in-law. The surprising part of this was how condescending and completely unhelpful the night manager, Bryce Yagos, was. He couldn't help them change rooms which I understand as the hotel was fairly full, but he didn't offer any alternative solutions or attempt to make their stay easier. He seemed annoyed that I even was asking him to look for other rooms and his attitude was extremely rude. He was in no way helpful, something I find very surprising for a hotel like the Fairmont. Having stayed at a number of other Fairmont properties I was extremely surprised by this event as they normally have some of the best customer care.
