Just stayed 8 nights in the Caribou Lodge and Spa in Banff,
Just wanna say what a lovely place to stay, the room was spacious and clean the beds so comfortable the only downside was the amount of storage for your clothes but thats it. The staff so friendly and helpful couldnt ask for better, the Keg restaurant in the hotel was equally good for meals and again the staff so friendly. The Red Earth spa was a great place to relax after a long day hiking, Hotel in great location only a 10min stroll into town or the hotel gave you a free bus pass to go on the roam service which ran every 40mins to town and various other places. If you had a car there was free parking under the hotel which was handy on frosty mornings (no ice scraping) i would def stay there again.

  • Liked — the friendly and helpful staff
  • Disliked — the amount of storage space for clothes

We Stayed at the Caribou Lodge for 11 nights on a B&B basis whilst skiing/snowboarding.

Great hotel, our room had 2 double beds with massive comfy duvets which were perfect after days out in the freezing cold. The hotel has a bar and restaurant that are great for when you cant be bothered walking into Banff, although it is only a ten minute walk at most. The hotel also has a big hot tub which is also good for warming the bones after a day in the cold. The best thing about this hotel is that they have an underground heated car park, meaning in the morning your car is warm and you can leave all your equipment in there no problem.

The staff are young and able to recommend bars/restaurants in Banff itself, of which there are many. Great place to stay, very welcoming with the big log fire in the lounge. Bar staff are nice and the restaurant food is good. Also, you can have pizza delivered to your room from a nearby Dominos.

As for the local area, well what can I say? The Canadian Rockies are stunningly breathtaking! It was a pleasure to drive each day to one of the 3 ski resorts. We also took a helicopter ride to some lesser accessible parts of the Rockies and that was amazing! We got engaged on frozen Lake Louise and it was beautiful!!

Banff is a great place to base yourself, it has everything you need and it is easy to get to the surrounding resorts! Great hotel!

  • Liked — Everything - the friendliness of the Canadians in general.
  • Disliked — Nothing, we loved it all.

We had a king size bed with loads of pillows, it was really comfy. The room was clean, and quiet. The check in staff were very friendly and the keg food was lovely, the sea breeze in he bar were very good too. It was our second visit and we would go back again. Just be careful, my husband kept getting electric shocks off the door handles and the lift buttons.

My wife & I stayed in the hotel for 2 nights at the beginning of October. This is a very nice hotel in a reasonably quiet part of Banff. Bedroom was very good with a very comfortable King size bed although it was disappointing to only have one bedside table with limited space on one side of the bed. Room was large and clean as was bathroom. Reception was good and dinner in the Keg restaurant was very good. Breakfast was however disappointing. We had opted for the buffet, paid in advance, but found the scrambled eggs inedible; totally overcooked and dry. When I asked if I could have freshly prepared fried eggs instead I was told I would have to pay extra. Bacon was also very crisp, indeed hard, but this seems to be the norm in Canada. This was a shame because otherwise I might have given the hotel top marks. Didn't use the spa, too busy doing siteseeing, so cannot comment on that. If I were stay in Banff again I would definitely stay in the same hotel.
Also had dinner at the Maple Leaf in Banff and can highly recommend the food.

We stayed for 2 nights at the Caribou and found it to be a very pleasant hotel with welcoming friendly staff at the front desk. It is situated at the far end of the town but it only takes 15 mins to walk in, so this isn't a problem. The free pass for the shuttle bus was appreciated.

The room was comfortable but also rather cold when we first checked in. It took along time to warm up and this was just as the weather was turning chilly so we had to keep our jackets on while we unpacked.

However, my request for a room with 2 queen beds was easily met and we had the added bonus of a small balcony even though it wasn't the time of year to sit outside!

We only used the restaurant once for the breakfast buffet which was good.

Good standard of accomodation. Large rooms & couteous, helpful staff. Good food in the restaurant. Good location although it was a 15 minute walk in to town which was fine for us but some people in our group found it too far. If you ask at reception they will give you a pass for the bus which stops almost outside the hotel and takes you in to town.
