“We enjoyed our stay at the Banff Inn”
Reviewed 4 March 2008

My wife and I stayed at the Banff Inn for a week whilst skiing in the area. First thoughts of the hotel were good with a nice entrance with fire and welcoming front desk. The hotel was decorated nicely and not at all dark and dingy as some other reviews mentioned. The rooms were very nice and spacious withn all the facilities you need. There was a nice bar area which also served breakfast in the morning. The breakfast was a pretty basic affair, but as the hotel doesn't have a restaurant then you can't expect a full cooked breakfast. But there was a good restaurant two doors down that served a full breakfast if thats what you wanted. The hotel had locked storage for any ski's and also a big hot tub and steam room and sauna. The hotel is located about a 10min walk to downtown Banff where you can find some great bars and restaurants and plenty of shopping. Overall we really enjoyed our stay in Banff which has some of the best scenery we've ever witnessed, a truely beautiful part of the world. The Banff Inn was perfect for our needs and will definitely stay here again in the future.

I have just returned from spending Christmas in Banff at the Banff Inn.
We were allocated this hotel on arrival at Calgary airport by our tour operator, and were very impressed; this was so much nicer than the last allocate-on-arrival we had (Bumper's Inn, further out of town on Banff Avenue).
The hotel itself was very clean and well maintained, with whirlpool and spa facilities just off the lobby, along with public telephones and internet access. There were also vending machines on each floor, which was great for grabbing a quick drink on the way to or when returning from a hard day playing in the mountains. There are full ski and snowboard locker located in the underground carpark, so no need to keep your wet equipment in your room.
The bar/lounge in the hotel was limited at best, but OK for getting a drink before heading into town for the night. I think the bar snack menu consisted of four items! But then with the amount of great restaurants in town (or the other hotels on the way) it didn’t really mater. The same goes for breakfast (ours was an extra $10 per person, per day, but you may get it included in you book direct with the hotel); limited at best. I can highly recommend The Keg@The Caribou Hotel, just two hotels up the street, where they served excellent food both at breakfast, and throughout the day.
My only complaints are that both the hotel corridors and the rooms themselves seemed a little dark. Both could do with brightening up.
The only other thing was that one of the four reception staff we encountered seem a little off. However as all the other staff were so helpful and polite, I can only assume she was having a bad day!

The Banff Inn is situated just out of the town and about a 10 minute walk from the centre. It is a small hotel with limited facilities. The reception staff were nice and helpful and there was a small bar, lounge area which has two large wall mounted TVs and where they serve breakfast each morning.

The whole hotel appears dark, and would benefit from a lick of bright paint. The overall feel of the hotel is dated but clean. Our room No. 123 was on the ground floor and was spacious with two large twin beds, a table and a couple of chairs and in another area just outside the bathroom a wardrobe space just opposite a coffee making area. The wall behind the bed was painted a rather disgusting mustardy brown colour.

The room was dark with not much light from the window as we overlooked a car park so not much of a view either. If we had been staying longer than a couple of nights I think we would have asked for another room.

Breakfast was served in the bar. It was a do-it-yourself breakfast and just about adequate, cereals, bananas and apples, various muffins, bread rolls, bagels, toast and cold hard boiled eggs - various fruit juices, jams, peanut butter, Philly cheese and marmalade. The thing that spoilt it was that it was served on paper plates and the tea and coffee was kept warm in flasks with only polystyrene cups to drink out of.

NOTE: We ate at The Keg, 521 Banff Avenue, which was a nice reasonable restaurant situated in the Caribou Lodge Hotel a couple of minutes walk away and would have preferred to stay there as the reception area was welcoming with a large log fire and the food was excellent.

First impressions of Banff Inn were good, the hotel is located on Banff Avenue approximately 10minutes walk from the main shopping centre of the town.

Our room was on a split level and ideal for a family, it was clean, spacious and had good facilities for a two night stay.

Our only complaint was that the Inn's facilities were inadequate, due to our stay being out of season, there was no functioning bar or use of a proper restaurant.

We did however opt for the morning continental breakfast on our first day in Banff, due to an early tour.
We were most disappointed at the selection on offer for the price paid, needless to say we did not return on day two.

If you are looking for a excellent evening meal or breakfast we would recommend The Keg at Caribou Lodge, which is situated two blocks to your left of the Inn on Banff Avenue. Please go early to avoid disappointment. Banff also offers a worldly range of restaurants from Japaneese to Greek, Indian to Canadian suiting most pallets and for those who are even more adventureous why not try Bison or Elk steak!

The town of Banff itself is beautiful with stunning scenery and good amenities, it is very easy to walkaround, shop, eat and take in the sights of the Rockies! However, please dress warmly as temperatures can plumet to -30 degress during Winter. If you have the opportunity take the Gondolar up Sulphar mountain you won't be disappointed, the views will blew your mind!

My fiance and I had a pleasant stay here for one night. The room was nice - we had a view of the mountains behind us. Staff were pleasant - we got there v. early to check in so our room wasn't even vacated, but they stowed our bags and let us know where we could get breakfast (great place called Melissa's about 5-8 mins walk away). It was a bit to far out of town than i would've liked - took about 10 mins to get to the main street.
Breakfast the next morning (which was included in price) was OK, buffet/continental style.
