Everything was very clean and nice. The Big Horn B and B is a good value in expensive Banff. The lock on our door wouldn't work, and even the owner had a little trouble with it, but from the way everything was maintained, I bet they have gotten a new lock already. I had read about the noisy trains, but I never heard one during the night; we slept with a window open. There was a bit of a funky smell when we first walked in, but once we opened the windows, all was well. Anne seemed very nice and helpful. While you're in Banff, be sure to visit the fabulous pool at the Upper Hot Springs.

We stayed at The Big Horn B&B, in the Honeymoon Suite, for 8 days in August and found it 'ideal in every way'! We were in Banff for a family wedding and so there was a lot of 'socialising' going on with relatives and friends. The fact that we had our own private entrance & key meant we could come and go as we pleased. Banff Avenue (the 'heart' of Banff) is only a 5 minute walk away .

The accommodation offers the best of both worlds - the independence of your own little apartment but with the convenience of hotel-like service such as daily cleaning & clean towels provided every 2 days. The breakfasts provided each day were excellent and really set us up for the day -cereals;bagels/croissants;pastries;yoghurts;fresh orange juice;tea/coffee etc.

We found Anne extremely welcoming and friendly. We would recommend this B&B to anyone and would certainly stay there again if we return to Banff.

Big Horn b and b is perfectly located for the main street and tourist information. It was spacious, clean and comfortable and quiet. (except for the occasional train sounding its horn). We also had good views from the window.

We had a large double bed, a sofa, a larger than average bathroom and a substantial kitchen area.

Ann was very welcoming and provided us with a delicious breakfast each morning of croissants, pastries, cereal and juice. There were also facilities for preparing our own light meals if we had so wished.

I appreciate the fact that we were left to our own devices, knowing that Ann was available upstairs if we needed anything.

We did not feel that parking was a problem. It was good to have somewhere safe to leave the car each night.

The only negative could be that the room is down a flight of stairs, so anyone staying here would have to be reasonably mobile in order to get the suitcases down there (and back up again).

I would be more than happy to stay ther again if I return to Banff.

Nice and clean B&B at a very good location, just a block or two away from Downtown.
We had in fact a small appartment to ourselves in the basement of the owners house with private entrance, bedroom, bathroom, spacious living room and large kitchen. Also we had a private parking. The self catered breakfast was fine.
The matrass of the bed was a little too soft and the appartment is a bit noisy. There are blinds in the room, no curtains, which makes that daylight enters the room at dawn.

We stayed at the Big Horn B&B for a week at the beginning of March, and we couldn't have chosen anywhere in Banff which would have suited our needs better. It was easy to find, being right in the centre of Banff town, a short walk from the main street and a big Safeway supermarket. The owners were friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble for them - and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The accommodation (the family suite) was perfect for us - spacious and comfortable; we had a very comfy bed, lounge area with TV/DVD, bathroom and kitchen. As we were travelling with a young baby this was ideal for us as we could sterilise bottles and heat baby food whenever we needed to.
Other people have commented on the lack of traditional B&B "atmosphere" or contact with the owners, but I didn't feel this was the case at all - personally I don't like feeling that I'm eating breakfast in someone else's dining room anyway! We had a separate entrance so we could come and go as we pleased, and a fantastic breakfast was left for us every day (cereal, muffins, croissants, juice, bread, etc.) so we didn't necessarily see the owners all the time, but we knew they were always there to help if we had any questions, and we had plenty of pleasant chats with them when we met them on our way out. Their children were also very polite and friendly, always enquiring about our day. I didn't find the room cold at all (as in an earlier review) - we were so cosy and warm it was easy to forget how cold it was outside! And the beautiful views of the mountains from the windows is something I wish I could wake up to every day...
All in all, we had a very memorable stay in Banff and this B&B really made our trip. I would definitely stay here again if I come back to Banff and would recommend it highly to anyone with a young family, anyone on a tighter budget than Banff hotels cater for, skiers who don't want the hassle of hotel meal times, or anyone who wants to stay a few minutes walk from Banff Avenue. We loved our stay at this B&B; in fact our only complaint is that we didn't see any elk outside - apart from that it was perfect!

We arrived in Banff by Greyhound from Calgary and were delighted to find the B&B only a short 5 min walk from the bus depot. When we arrived at the house we were suprised to see an elk just outside the garden fence.
Ann, the owner made us feel very welcome and we were very pleased we had our own separate entrance. We had the 'honeymoon' suite, don't expect luxury but do expect clean, spacious and well equipped accomodation and so close to Banff town, just a 5 minute walk. A Safeway was located just around the corner.
Ann came into the suite every day and filled up fresh items for the following days breakfast, croissants, bagels, juice, cereals and milk and muffins. Many people have commented how this place lacked the traditional feel of a B&B, that is more interaction with the owners. This is true as we did not see Ann once in the whole time we were there but we liked it this way, it gave much more freedom.
Only negatives are the fact it got pretty cold, there was only a small blow heater and we could hear noise from upstairs although it never caused a disturbance.
All in all, a good value clean place to stay in banff, fantastic location, we would definitely return.
