We had supper here with another couple. A very posh environment. One in which you don't feel comfortable asking prices of wine, champagne or water that is offered! Big mistake! Our bill was over $600....we blame the fancy water :)

The Banffshire Club has excellent food that will keep your favorite foodie happy. Our meal enhanced by delightful wine suggestions and a knowledgeable server, all of which made the evening memorable.

“Stunning meal”

I loved the Champagne presentation, and all four courses we had. They have a fantastic wine selection and our server, Vikie, made sure that we were well looked after. This is my favorite dining establishment at the Banff Springs Hotel. It is not inexpensive, but if you want a special dinner splurge, this is the place!

“Superb Chef's Tasting Menu”

While staying at the legendary Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel in Banff, Alberta, Canada, during the July 4 weekend, my wife and I enjoyed an evening in the Banffshire Club that took us from French villages to the small wineries of northern Italy, the Napa Valley and Canada's very best. We were treated to the Chef's Tasting Menu and enjoyed a feast under the steady guidance of Sommelier Laurent Pelletier. Starting with a delicious shrimp and grits dish that featured pork belly and creamed corn with scallion, we were pleasantly surprised at the wine selections throughout this experience, beginning with a 2008 Gevrey-Chambertin, Maison Champy, Veilles Vignes that must have been made in heaven. The seared halibut that followed was as close to perfection as we could imagine and was accompanied by a 2012 Stags Leap Viognier. The main course in this feast was a Wagyu hanger steak, which we enjoyed with a 2005 Roberto Voerzio, Fontanazza from Italy's Piemente. Our Chef greeted us tableside and gave us an opportunity to tell him that his culinary art was magical. L'Extra Triple Cream featuring fig, burly, pine nut and honey was accented with a 2011 Burrowing Owl Cabernet Franc from Canada's Okanagan Valley, and the repast was capped off with a lemon mousse, frangiapane, lemon parfait with candied citrus and meringue clouds, which we enjoyed with an Alsace Gewürztraminer from Gustaf Lorentz. This was elegant dining at its pinnacle. Put it on your bucket list!
