Suginoya restaurant in located on the second floor of a building with not much natural light. It's a budget restaurant.
We went for lunch and had the lunch special.
- miso soup, tasted OK
- Bento box with salad, rice, some pickles, teriaki chicken, and tempura:
- Salad was fresh
- Rice was good, had some poppy seeds on top of it, nice!
- Teriaki chicken was more of a fried breaded chicken with maybe a hint of teriaki sauce. Nothing like any other Japanese teriaki chickens we ever had before. This was more an American style fried chicken with a Japanese twist. Tasted OK.
- Tempura was good, except that the shrimp didn't taste so good to me.
- Wife had breaded shrimp instead of tempura, and I tasted it. That shrimp also didn't taste so good to me.
- We purchased tea, came in a large pot. It tasted good.
- Price very reasonable

This restaurant is good for lunch on a budget, but of course you get what you paid for. Taste is average at best.

We were disappointed of the food and service. The restaurant is very ordinary but it is very pricey. The location is good but the place is dark.

Good Japanese restaurant in Banff. Decor is a bhit dated but the food was pretty good. Had nice sushi, tempura and some chicken teriyaki. Enjoyed the meal and service was pretty fast and friendly. It is not gourmet meal but definitely enjoyable!

We came here again recommended from a friend who lives in town.
I thought that I was in Japanese Izakaya!!

If you want to eat good Japanese, here or Chaya, he said.
We never had a chance to go to Chaya, so I can't compare, but this place was good.
We had their dinner combos, and all of them were good, meaning authentic Japanese food!

However, rather expensive, compared to Southern California.

We very much enjoyed this restaurant. The food was attractively presented, fresh and tasty. Service as a bit slow, but it may have been because each order was freshly made. The green tea ice cream was especially tasty.
