Stayed here as part of a tour planned through Canadian Affair. Room was tiny and a twin when we had booking confirmation for a double. When we went to ask for a double we were told it would be one hundred dollars more, we declined as only staying for a night. The room and halls smelled musty although appeared clean apart from a few crushed bugs on walls. There was a warning about scalding risk due to the plumbing the note stated this was part of the properties charm. We decided not to wash our hair due to this as water was pretty unpredictable but when we asked at reception for a shower cap you would have thought we were asking for water to be turned into wine! Also the restaurant was overpriced and as you are a taxi ride from the town they really have you by the short and curlies. When we went for afternoon drink the young chap was very pleasant however we had another server for our evening meal who when I asked what was in my dinner had no idea...pretty poor over priced...wouldn't stay again!!

Room Tip: Choose another part of the hotel..have since been made aware there is a newer section however would...

I stayed here solo in April. I paid over $100 for my tiny little room, the heat was centrally controlled and it was so hot in my room i had to get up in the middle of the night and go outside to cool down.

It was clean and ok, but overpriced for what it is.

Room Tip: ask for a room without centrally controlled heating

We booked this place on Expedia so we think we were put in the older section of the hotel. A friend stayed in the newer part and had a conflicting review.

The bed was comfortable, room was clean - however, we were warned that the water may randomly go to scalding hot without notice (due to the old water system in this hotel). Sure enough, when we showered, someone in another room would flush the toilet and the water would go to HOT.

Overall, the hotel was fine especially with the alternatives in the area (price, location, etc.). Would recommend staying in Banff, as there are more options that are cheaper and better value.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the new section.

We stayed at Deer Lodge last week for two nights. There was a power cut while we were checking in so we managed to get some food down in the village back to Deer Lodge with no power /lights etc we were given 2 tealights and a box of matches at 9pm. the power came on at 1-30am A good breakfast and later a very good meal in the evening but the next morning NO HOT WATER when we contacted the reception they said they had not realized, this on top of a cold room with no tv,kettle or any form of facilities we had to move the bed to get to a socket to charge anything. This hotel is very poor and old fashioned a complete let down The food/resturant was very good but is let down by the rest after complaning to reception we were only charged for one night and giving a free breakfast, a real shame as the location is really good

2 nights' stay at the Heritage room.

Lake Louise is a touristy destination thus steeper accommodation rates should be expected. To avoid parking woes at Lake Louise, we ventured on foot from Deer Lodge to Lake Louise. It was just a 10mins leisure walk.

The Heritage room we stayed on was on the 3rd floor. There was no elevator thus carrying up the luggage to our room was a bit of hassle but not too much of an issue especially with the help of the hotel staff. Room and bathroom were functional and clean. It did not really feel like a historic hotel that exudes old charm. The sound-proofing of the room was not really good. We could hear every conversations along the corridor or from the neighboring rooms. Our room was not tidied up after our first night of stay. We informed the front desk about the aforementioned and we did appreciate that a housekeeping staff was sent to tidy up as soon as possible.

During the ski season, a complimentary shuttle bus operates between the Lake Louise ski area and the Lodge. Rooftop spa tub with views of Victoria Glacier. There is complimentary wifi as well.

After touring round a few places in the Rockies we checked into Deer Lodge which is a 2min walk from Lake Louise. This appears to be quite a basic hotel, no TV, traditional decor - was really pleasantly surprised. This hotel has loads of charm, is really cosy with open fires, lodge type design and many stuffed trophy animals on the walls!! Staff made us feel really welcome and definitely try out the restaurant which was one of the best meals we had on our trip, excellent food and great service.

I checked into my May 3/14 after snowboarding all day.

I just wanted peace and quiet.

I had a shower, and in the shower I could hear people yelling, talking, coming up the stairs etc.

OVER THE NOISE OF THE SHOWER!

Went to watch tv, no tv

the picture of the room was quite big, my room could barley fit the bed.

no heater controls room was too hot.

The hotel is nice, old but nice. check in was great. I didn't stay the night, too noisy, I didn't feel like being tired the next day when I could just tough it out so I drove home ( 4 hours)

This is 2014. Yes I get its an old hotel. but they need to do some serious renovations.

stay at the mountaineer, rooms are cheaper, bigger, and less congestion.

Room Tip: Don't stay here its way to noisy.
