“Comfortable hotel quite expensive”
Reviewed 1 September 2009

We booked one room with two single beds because it was much cheaper than a queen bed. They upgraded us without request. The room was clean but a bit dim. It was ground floor with its own french window to a varandah. The staff are great with excellent service. The restaurant in first class but expensive. Very good food. One of the few restaurants in Canada where we found the red wine served at the correct temperature. The swimming pool was nice. The pub in the same building is cheapar and good. There are two sandwich/cafes in the nearby mall.

We have visited the Post Hotel on many occasions over the past 20 years. We usually go once in the summer and once in the winter. The last 10 years we have visited with our 2 boys, now aged 10 and 8. The Post Hotel is their second home due to the outstanding service we receive. Most staff know us by name and those who don't know us, always have a cheery "good morning". The restaurant is excellent but we always go to the Pub for it's more relaxed atmosphere and it has mostly the same menu as the restaurant. In the Pub, the kids can flop on the couches and have fallen asleep there a few times. There are a variety of room types and it is best to call or email the hotel to get the room that is right for you. Every room has wonderful bed linens and great duvets. We love it there and you will too.

If you like the sound of a train running thru your room every night, well then you will love this place. Horrible nights sleep. I would never stay here again. Why didnt we go up the hill and just stay on the beautiful lake? Dont make the mistake we made.

The best hotel experience we had in North America. Wonderful staff, very friendly, helpful, even funny, this is a luxury hotel in a wonderful environment, the room was perfect and beds were among the most comfortable we ever had. The restaurant was top class, with excellent service. They have top wines from all over the world, some of them a bit too pricey compared to other locations. We stayed for 2 days and it was a wonderful stay.

PIne, pine and more pine. This is a beautiful place, which would be even more attractive in the winter with roaring fires and its own library. It is, however, situated in the (very small) village of Lake Louise which is a significant drive away from the actual Lake itself. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The room had its own balcony but no fridge and it did feel a little cramped with the two singles in it. There was, however, complimentary tea and coffee offered in the welcoming lobby area in the afternoons, and the ambience of the place was great.

My wife and I do a lot of traveling and have stayed at hotels around the world. I have to say that in terms of service and scenic location, the Post Hotel is the best I've experienced. Everyone on the staff is extremely pleasant and eager to help. We had the fortune of having a room that faced the adjoining Pipestone River. One morning we sat on chairs by the river, enjoying our morning refreshment, and took in the magnificent sound of the river and view of the surrounding mountains. It was a true joy!

This is a gorgeous property run by people that obviously care about hospitality (Swiss owners). The public areas are very well appointed and the whole hotel has the feel of a private home. Some rooms, like ours was very small, but well appointed. Every staff member was a professional - a much different feel then even at the Fairmont.

Spa and fitness facilitites are first rate for a hotel of this size.

Although I only had lunch in the restaurant, it was memorable and worth the relatively steep price.

A few issues -- food in the Outpost pub was disappointing. Also, it's a shame that the hotel seems to have virtually no sustainability / environmental programs - not even recycling bins in the room. This is a luxury hotel with lots of thick towels, bottled water, and waste (not exactly in keeping with its surroundings).
