The Post is one of the nicest hotels I've stayed in. It's surrounded by mountains and the air is crisp and alpine. When we opened our French doors we could hear the wolves howling. This hotel has a distinct Swiss feel to it. The beds are very comfy, with soft feather pillows. The room decor is classic and simple, the bathroom is stunning, and the bathrobes are the best. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. It is small, intimate and charming.

After touring 2 weeks in West Canada, we spent the last 2 nights at the Post Hotel in Lake Louise before traveling back home. We actually liked all the hotels and B&B's during our stay, however, this one stood out in quite many ways. First of all, it was very good value for the money. The food was great (both breakfast and dinner), the rooms spotless and there's that special kind of "old charm" that spreads around the hotel. Most of all we have been impressed by the 2 owners (2 brothers from Switzerland who have been managing this property for over 25 years). I've never been in a hotel where the owners/managers have been so visible. They made sure all is going well, took time to sit down with guests to chat, instructed staff and extended a warm Welcome the minute we had arrived (we actually bumped into one of them while searching our room). Many of the staff are Swiss nationals whom we felt were well-mannered and went "the extra mile" to make their guests comfortable. I was actually surprised that the young man at the reception knew my name after the first day, although it wasn't him who had checked us in. These are the small little differences that , in my opinion, make an impact. Last but not least: The Post Hotel has been around for a while and the rooms are not the most modern ones. However, this hotel definitely makes it up by many small details that you don't find in "ordinary places".

Stayed 3 nights.
Good location for Lakes Louise/Moraine & for touring the Icefield Highway or Banff. So very good for Rockies tourists.
Hotel pretty & seemed relatively small, but with large dining room.
Room fine but a long way from reception considering the hotel was very quiet.
Argument about dining reservation time, despite few diners. Food was average for very fancy prices.
Reception staff & senior management were mainly European, which might explain seeming lack of customer care.
Hotel bar staff friendly.
Seperate 'pub' at back which you 'need' to discover with OK food/drink, at much more reasonable prices.
Wi-Fi only worked near reception!
Planned 'power outage' was advised by note in room with candles & 'free' buffet breakfast offered as gesture.
Overall very stuffy atmosphere & feeling that they were doing you a favour by letting you stay.
Although the hotel is mature, it is the management that needs an attitude change rather than particularly changing any facilities!

Finally, the hotel is located a few yards from the village which offers (inter alia) adequate bakehouse breakfasts & other shops etc.

As the title says this was our favourite hotel on the trip despite staying at a couple of Fairmonts at other locations. The staff are really friendly, the rooms are very nice and the setting by the river is gorgeous. The bar and the pool area are also very good.
The hotel also has very nice little touches such as afternooon tea on the lawn and chocolates on the pillows at night.
I'd definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in Lake Louise.

This was our splurge hotel on our trip to Banff, & Jasper. We got some discount by booking on internet. The room was generous with an over-stuffed chair and loveseat and a wood-burning fireplace that was cleaned and rebuilt each day. Free wi-fi, apples, daily water and chocolate are perks. The spa was my high point, my husband loved the indoor pool, steam room and jacuzzi (which he practically had to himself). The pub is the causal restaurant with good food prepared by same kitchen as the high-end restaurant. Piano lounge had a pianist playing standards in a jazz swing mood. It's just a short stroll to the shopping mall for fresh baked goods, small cafe, grocery market. Only drawback to hotel is that coffee and tea are complimentary only in the morning.
