Rustic lodge set in a picture postcard setting, next to a beautiful lake which mirrors the stunning mountains and glaciers. Our room was in the main building with small balcony and French doors opening out to this breathtaking view. The room had a gas stove (looked just like a wood burner),the bed was dressed with a tartan rug and beside lamps with parchment coloured shades and metal base one in the outline of a bear the other an elk. Large lounge/library with huge open fire and again an amazing view. We arrived just in time for afternoon tea which was laid out on a side board so we could help ourselves. Dinner was expensive and as its a bit out of the way,the chef has a captive audience! Great breakfast, after which we took out a canoe which was wonderful. The canoes are complimentary and we could use them early morning before the crowds arrived. It really was the Canada I had imagined! Forgot to mention no TV in the bedroom which was bliss.

Room Tip: Our room was in the main building and overlooked the lake, convenient for dining room/ lounge. There...

Without doubt this was the best hotel of our Canadian trip. The main building, where our room was located, is a large wooden lodge. It is devoid of modern day features, such as tv in the room, or indeed anywhere in the hotel. However who needs tv when your hotel is located in one of the most beautiful parts of the Canadian Rockies. We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we checked in. The young lady at reception showed us all round the main lodge, pointing out facilities such as the elegant library, with free afternoon tea and cakes on offer. She also showed us around our room, pointing out all its features. The dining room is elegant, the waiting staff were all very friendly, polite and helpful, without being intrusive. The dinner menu was top quality as indeed was the food itself. Overall I cannot praise this hotel too highly. Location, comfort, service, and overall ambience are in my opinion second to none. If anyone is thinking of staying in this part of Canada, I would urge them to try and reserve rooms here.

Moraine lake lodge has views that are breathtaking. We had a lakeside room and it was worth the extra dollars. Overall, I would recommend the lodge. But, it would have been nice if the bathroom doors would have closed properly. Upon arriving, we let them know the door would not close. They never fixed it. Also, the second night my bed had some kind of grit in the bottom sheet. No, I am not kidding. I ended up just taking the sheet off the bed.

What a wonderful place to stay. I was travelling with my family, including 3 teenagers, but decided it was worth spending one night here, even though it is expensive. I am a keen photographer, so it was fantastic to be able to watch both the sunset and sunrise from the rockpile and without anyone else (at sunrise)!
We had two rooms in the lodge - one for my husband and I and another for our 3 children. My daughters were ok to share a bed. Wonderful views from both rooms.
Meals were excellent and staff friendly.
A huge bonus was free use of the canoes. It was also fun to see wildlife such as pika, squirrels and a porcupine wandering around.
Would definitely return for a longer stay.

Spent 3 nights here recently and wish it had been 3 weeks. Breathtakingly beautiful scenery. Fabulous bedroom with the best view ever - straight through the pines to the lake. Friendly and helpful staff - nothing too much trouble. Wonderful food too. Evening walks sublime. We even had a sleepy porcupine trundle across our path. The lake is very popular with day trippers but they leave and then it is all yours! Fabulous.

We stayed in a cabin overlooking the magnificent turquoise lake and mountains. The weather was cool and a little rainy but we had a wood burning stove which made the cabin so cozy. The fire is set for you every morning and plenty of wood is stacked outside your door. There is no television in the room which seems appropriate for the setting. We would have liked a phone to reach the front desk for dinner reservations and ice, but not a huge problem. The restaurant is very good. The cons are if you want to go out for dinner there is a windy mountain road to navigate but the sun doesn't set until very late so that made it easier. There are a lot of buses so get out early for a peaceful hike.

Room Tip: The cabin overlooking the lake was so fantastic.

This was a return visit for us as we knew last time we stayed that we hadn't booked long enough here! Great staff who just can't do enough for you and the view from the lodge rooms is just the best out of any bedroom window anywhere in the world. The stay is very pricey but there are various things that are included in the stay that the hotel don't shout about beforehand. There is a complementary afternoon tea daily between 3 and 5 and guests can take a canoe out on the lake anytime for free. Try the hikers menu 4.30-6.30 daily on the patio for a very reasonable price. The only down side is that it all felt a little less exclusive than hen we last stayed 4 years ago. There used to be restrictions on the general public visiting before 10 and after 4 and now they seem to stay well into the evening. Having gone out for the day though, it's lovely to pass all the tourist cars on the road approaching the lake to sail in to the hotel only parking!

Top tip- If you're keen on the canoeing, ask to take paddles and life vests back to your room so you can take the canoes out before and after the boat opening hours of 10-6pm. You need to sign a waver each day but being the only boat on the lake is an experience not to be missed.

Room Tip: I liked the lodge rooms for convenience and view but you can have a cabin for "away from the cr...
