“Amazing!”

This is an expensive hotel but worth every penny. The stay includes a delicious buffet style breakfast, afternoon tea and free guided hikes and canoe hire, you can also borrow bear spray if heading out on your own.
Although Moraine Lake is exceptionally busy during the day as a guest in the lodge we had the advantage of being able to get away from the crowds. It was also a treat to be staying behind when the crowds left and to be there before they arrived, it is in our opinion a prettier lake than Lake Louise so crowds are just part of it.We stayed in one of the lodges away from the main lodge the rooms are absolutely gorgeous and as it cools down in the evenings the log fire, comfy bed and cosy duvets made for a good nights sleep.
Our lodge had a great view of the lake but some of the others have the view obscured by trees so if a view is important to you be sure to mention when making your reservation.
The guided hike we took to Larch valley was great and our guide Devan kept a pace that suited everyone and was full of knowledge of the area.We quickly left crowds behind and got views you don't get without a walk. Our second hike to Consolation lakes was cut short due to a large rockfall but was still spectacular.
The onsite restaurant serves evening meals of exceptional quality.

Fantastic little lodge in a beautiful location. Expensive but the service, rooms and food lived up to it, particularly dinner which was fantastic. Moraine Lake is disgustingly busy during the daytime so it was nice to stay there in the early morning and evening when it was much more pleasant. Free canoes are excellent, we were first on the lake at 8.30 in the morning and had it all to ourselves. Would definitely stay again.

We started our holiday here and were very sad to leave. We stayed 4 four nights which we felt was about right. A much better option than Lake Louise which we had considered.
We used it as a base to visit Banf and Yoho National Park but could well have spent all out time here.
Yes it does get busy but to a degree guests at the lodge are insulated from this and we never found it oppressive. We stayed in a De luxe Cabin which had good views but not right down the lake as do those in the main building. The food was excellent and not unduly expensive compared to comparable quality elsewhere in Canada.
The staff are a young group which makes it fun. They were all enthusiastic and generally very competent. We had a bit off an issue with housekeeping in that the cleaners objected to doing our room before noon but this was a minor thing when set in context.
Our last evening on a canoe in the lake is something that will stay with us for a long time.

Room Tip: We liked the Deluxe Cabin with wood stove but they do not look down the full length of the lake

The crowds all day long spoil it . We picked the lodge for the views and lake which are spectacular. Rooms and service above average . We had dinner there two nights and the food was very well prepared and presented. No TV and no phones are a great idea until you look outside and see and hear a steady stream of visitors all day

Stayed here two nights and it was so quiet and peaceful (except for the big Ravens that show no fear). Fireplace in rooms prepared to be ready to light. The view was just spectacular. It is 9 miles from Lake Louise.

We stayed for 4 nights as part of our honeymoon trip. Blown away by the beauty as soon as we walked into our room. Everything we expected it to be and more. Walked the lake, paddled the lake and just sat and gazed at the lake from the rock pile and our balcony .... just couldn't get enough of it. Went on 2 guided walks with Devin, he was great. The walk up to Larch Meadow was more challenging than the walk to Consolation Lake but both were worth doing. Ate in the restaurant twice and had great meals both times and received great service from the staff. Coffee and pasties were laid on free of charge every day in the library. Complimentary breakfast was varied and good quality. Free paddling on the lake with no time limit. Parking was on site which was a blessing given the popularity of the area. We didn't use the wood burner as it was way too warm but it was a lovely touch. No TV was a great idea as it forced us to relax. Could access wifi when we needed to. The little details and touches just made it very special. Come to this place if you want a little bit of wonder. Yes it is pricey but you get what you pay for. Thanks to everyone at Moraine for a fantastic experience.

This was our second stay at this property. The setting is nothing short of magnificent. It is very expensive if staying during the high season. I recommend coming during a bridge season for cheaper rates and less crowds! It was MUCH more crowded with day trippers during late July. A porcupine or something got under our cabin the last night chewing on the floor or something and kept us awake all night! Didn't like that too much.

They need to work on parking lot control. The girl trying to handle this was in way over her head. She obviously needed much more help and more organization. I would return perhaps but not in July.

The restaurant and staff are good especially considering it is a seasonal property. A nice stay but getting too expensive for us. We paid almost $200 more per night than our previous visit.
