The rooms were slighted dated. The staff was very helpful. It's walking distance to a couple of bars and restaurants and..... close to the ski hills. Extacly what we were looking for at that time and place.

Room Tip: The family room works for three guys that want to share a room but don't want to share a bed.

We stayed three nights in the Mountaineer Lodge and found it clean with friendly staff. We had a problem with the heating system leaking but as soon as we notified the staff they arranged for us to change rooms.
Breakfast was provided the only downside was as there were only a few people staying in the hotel breakfast was served in the lobby and there were not enough tables and chairs to accommodate everyone that came in for breakfast. The breakfast was normally served in a proper dining room but this was the off-season.
Location was convenient to Lake Louise village main roads.
Would stay again!

Place was fairly nice, but needs upgrading. Breakfast was not full as promised, only during weekends, and room had some cleanliness issues. Clogged tub, hairs in bed, etc.. People were pretty friendly but it wasn't a place I'd be excited to stay at again. Hot tub was the best part.

I stayed here because my boyfriend and I planned a last minute ski trip during the Christmas holidays and it was very difficult to find a reasonably priced hotel in Lake Louise. I called reception to see if there were any rooms available for our dates and the staff member was very helpful and actually gave me a discounted rate than what was advertised online.

When we arrived, I was impressed with the front lobby and the young lady who checked us in was very friendly and helpful. She told us where to find restaurants and explained where everything was.

The room was very unimpressive. I didn't expect very much after reading other reviews. The bathroom was clean, but worn out. Carpets were stained and and worn. On day 3 of our trip, I found a rotten apple core behind our side table from previous guests. As well, I just found that there was a total lack of privacy even when we were in our room. Each room in the second building (not the main building) has a door that opens to the outside. If people are talking very loudly or running across the balcony you can hear them through your door and outside window. I could also hear my neighbours talking and yelling until 3:30 am through the walls of our room. The other inconvenient part of this hotel is that the hot tub is in the main building with the lobby. You have to walk outside to use this amenity.

I really enjoyed the continental breakfast. Although no hot foods, I thought there was a good assortment and the staff were always so friendly in the morning! The room that they serve breakfast in is very nice.

Overall. this was a less than average to average stay. I wasn't impressed with the room and the hot tub, but the staff were great and the convenience to Lake Louise was awesome. I don't think I would stay here again, but for a first trip to the area to ski, it didn't make my vacation unpleasant.

Stayed here for a night on my way to Jasper. Everything the other reviewers are saying is true.

Positives:
- Clean room/hotel
- Decent size
- Good wireless Internet
- Friendly staff

Negatives:
- Room is straight out of early 1990s
- Paper thin walls
- Lots of noise in the hotel
- Hard to get cold water out of the tap (had to let it run for 5 minutes, what the...)

BUT... The most bizarre thing about this place is the lack of a 24 hour attendant at the hotel. After midnight, you're on your own pal. No front desk staff and only a phone number to call if there's a problem. Maybe I just hit the place on a slow night, but I found this somewhat off-putting. Even at a 'Bob's motel' for $50 bucks a night you can usually wake Bob up and he's on site. Simply put, it's just weird.

We had one night here on our way from Jasper to Banff. Check in was quick and easy, we had a room in the main building, down the hall from the reception. The room itself was large, clean and well priced. The bathroom was clean and the shower worked well.

There was no noise problem at night and the bed was comfortable enough. It was a bit hot but a fan was provided (and used!) There is a laundry room on site which we used that was handy. Also vending machines which we didnt use.

There are a few choices to walk to for dinner, we found a sports bar/restaurant at another Hotel that was reasonably good.

Breakfast in the morning was average, standard continental fare. The staff weren't very helpful but it was free and there was plenty available. The breakfast room definitely needs an update.

Best part of our stay was the help we recieved from the front desk when trying to book the next nights stay in Banff. They looked up phone numbers and even let us borrow their phone to call multiple Hotels. We would recommenned this hotel to people looking for a comfortable hotel in a good location for a good price.

We stayed here for three nights and it was a good location for looking round the local area. Rooms are clean and comfortable, although we still can't quite work out why they provide a microwave but no cutlery or plates to use. We used it to boil water for tea as this is yet another place that doesn't provide a kettle! There is a launderette you can use and a couple of places to eat within walking distance.

Our room was on the ground floor at the back of the complex. The parking was right outside our room. The train line goes nearby so if you are a light sleeper it might be worth asking for a room in a different area. Breakfast is a buffet with a good selection of breads, fruit, yoghurt and cereal plus waffle irons. This was a highlight each morning watching everyone trying to work out how to use them. One person poured the syrup straight in rather than the batter!
