We stayed 2 nights at this hotel - and it was nothing short of being - just fabulous!!! Probably one of the most beautiful hotel's I have ever stayed in - particularly because our room overlooked lake louise and the glacier so were able to watch it change at different times of the day. The rooms were very well appointed and service was excellent. In particular, I would like to mention Geoffrey Cotton at the reception desk who was most helpful and went out of his way with every query we had. He even fixed my macbook when it wouldn't download pictures of our trip!!!

At first glace the main lobby of the hotel which is albeit beautiful looks like a train station with the amount of tour buses and tourists that arrive there but if you look beyond this - the hotel and its properties are truly magnificent and leave nothing to be desired.

Definitely check out the fondue restaurant at the hotel. Quantities are small but the fondue is probably some of the best we have ever had!

All in all a fabulous place to stay and one that made Lake Louise the highlight of our trip!

Room Tip: Definitely ask for an air conditioned room over looking Lake Louise and the glacier!

Nothing beats waking up to that fantastic view from our window overlooking Lake Louise. The beds were very comfortable, the staff helpful and friendly, and there was a wide array of food options to choose from. By far the biggest drawback, however, is the lack of air conditioning. Our room had afternoon sun and no matter what we did, it never did cool down to a comfortable level for sleeping. The upside to being awake most of the night was we were able to see the most amazing sunrise - but a hotel of this calibre and price should have air conditioning as a standard amenity.

Stayed overnight at the Chateau Lake Louise in May 2014.
Had a spectacular view of the glacier from our room, the glacier and lake were completely frozen at that time.
The room was very comfortable, the hotel spectacular and of course the location although isolated as good. The building itself is a very fine piece of architecture.
The buffet breakfast room was huge and packed, but plenty to eat.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room with a view of the glacier

The hotel was nice and our room was comfortable and clean. However, we were afraid to leave the room for fear of getting lost in the hundreds of tourists coming off the buses. Allowing buses takes away from the exclusivity of the resort (and believe me, they charge a nice fee). Thank goodness for the staff that recommended that we head out in the morning early for hiking to avoid the crowds. We did the hike up the Agnes Lake Teahouse at 8:00 am and on the way back had to go single file down the descent because of the tourists coming up from the buses. UGH. Totally takes away from the natural beauty. We also had to wait over 1.5 hours to rent a canoe. They should have special privileges for resort guests but as far as I could tell there were none. Not worth the price to stay there. Stay down in Banff and make it a day trip to Lake Louis (and pack your patience).

We just returned from Banff/Lake Louise July 15th 2014. Stopping for a night at the Fairmont in Lake Louise is definitely worth the splurge. She is an aging, quirky, lovely place, and with this in mind, we enjoyed every minute. Bellhops are college students dressed like Swiss mountain guides and the staff is young, happy and eager to please. Staying here allows you to enjoy the lake in the evening as the crowds recede and if you rise early you will be rewarded with spectacular sunrise views of the lake and mountains, Our room was 411, corner king with a lovely view, no air conditioning and a bit of a walk from the only elevator back in service. There was a fan in the room that came in handy, and the windows open for the evening breeze. Spend the money and stay for a night. Keep your sense of adventure and you will love it.

Room Tip: Room 411 is a spacious corner room with a king and room for a cot. Small bathroom, fan, but no air...

Everything you would expect from a hotel of this class and more. Genuinely helpful and friendly staff and the most beautiful location. Dinner in the Lago Italian while looking at the Victoria Glacier was a wonderful experience. Rooms are comfortable even the Standard ones with great touches like good bed lights and armchair.

Room Tip: Lake view rooms the best but more expensive.
