As a family of 5, we stayed in one of their suites, which worked out perfectly for us. Some guests complained that their room did not have air conditioning, but ours did. However, it gets so cold at night that if you leave your window cracked out you will be fine without it. The beds are extremely comfortable! We had a view of the parking lot unfortunately. The hotel at night was very quiet, noise was never as issue.
The hot tub seats about 16 people, but during the afternoon when everyone comes back from their hikes it can get very crowded.
The service is amazing. Everyone is extremely helpful and the concierge went way above and beyond. Our server from one of the restaurants wrote out 3 pages on where our family should go for hikes during our stay and had it sent to our room! Most of staff is very knowledgable about the hikes in the area.
There are about 4 or 5 dining options at the Chateau. All extremely expensive. The cheapest dinner we had was at the Glacier Saloon, where it was about 25$ per person. I would recommend driving to the village and eating there. Also the deli has food options (sandwiches are about 10$!).
Since Lake Louise is gaining popularity in the world, you can expect it to become VERY crowded from 10am-4pm when the buses of tourists arrive. However, we would always plan to start hiking at 9:30am so we would miss it!
The hikes around the Chateau are awesome. The most crowded is the Lake Agnes Tea House Trail, but it wasn't a problem. Definitely pretty steep and long, but take it slow and the views are worth it! Take plenty of water with you.
We did two guided hikes with the guides at the hotel and it was one of the best decisions. Those guides are SO knowledgable about everything in that park. They have hiked every peak you can see and they know which trails to take the family on. They also provided gear!

Room Tip: Get a view with a room! And away from the elevators.

We have frequented this hotel in the past, and each time it stands up to it's high reputation. We celebreated our 35 wedding anniversary, the staff were very attentive, helpful yet discreet. They made our stay very special. Our spacious room overlooked the lake, a spectacular view. We hiked to the Tea House in the afternoon, then relaxed in the Gold Lounge before our dinner. Again, the staff in the Wallister Stube resturant were so accomodating, the food was delicious. We have lived overseas in numerous countries, we continue to adore the Canadian Rockies and find the Fairmont Chateau Lake Lousie one of the best.

Room Tip: A view of the spectacular lake.

This was one of the best ever hotel experiences. We were fortunate to get a lake view room on a high level with stunning views of the lake and glacier. The restaurants are varied but all to a very high standard. Service is excellent and there are options for many excursions to lakes, mountains, waterfalls and glaciers. I would highly recommend the whole experience.

Room Tip: High lake view rooms are stunning

There's no doubt this is a spectacular location and the backdrop really is as stunning as the pictures show. The hotel is as big as the scenery, as is the price.

The staff were generally excellent, offering our kids towelling robes unprompted when we visited the swimming pool, arranging restaurant reservations etc.

The only spoiler was that one of our party went down with stomach cramps and vomiting about six hours after eating shellfish in one of the restaurants (Poppy Brasserie). The hotel security visited us to take some details and undertook to send samples of the food for testing but we never heard back despite inquiring.

So if you avoid the mussels and have deep pockets, this is a stunning place to stay. But it's also a great place to drop in on for an ice cream and to admire the view.

Such helpful staff, beautiful room on a stunning location.
Despite me worrying about the Fairmont looking like a Disney castle, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of staying there.
And of course Lake Louise and the view of the mountains is majestical.

Room and bath are very small. No air conditioner. most restaurants closed 9 pm. Parking is expansive. Great view but after 10 am there will be many tourists on site. Unless you want to get good light in the morning and take nice pictures, it is not worth staying. Rimrock Hotel in Banff is a much better choice.

We stayed as part of a package holiday. Our room faced the lake and there was very little if anything to complain about. The room was a queen room and it afforded us a beautiful sleep. The bathroom was just big enough and the appointments adequate. We ate at the Walliser Stabe and had a lovely meal although the Wiener schnitzel was more like a deep fried crumbed steak. The restaurant had a beautifully framed view of the lake. The long day length allowed us an afterdinner walk along the lake' sedge. Although the hotel was very busy we were able to move quietly and undisturbed most of the time. The breakfast buffet our tour was given was very expansive but once again the Bain Marie foods were not hot enough and the staff were kept very busy . The deli offered very well priced meals and snacks.
